2000 Silverado water leaking into cab

Hello guys...

Here's my quick introduction. Im buying a 2000 Silverado extended cab (3 door) from my brother but it's got a bad water leak. When it rains, the truck gets WET inside. Lots of threads on this already but I have a few things to add that may narrow down my problem more, which would be great, because right now I don't even know where to start looking.... Here are my symptoms.

Carpet is wet, mainly on the passenger front. (Problems seem to be in the front of the cab, not third break light then?)

So, water will pool up in the little compartment on the headliner. This would be where the reading lights are, and where they would put the electronic compass/outside temperature reader in higher models, mine is just a plastic compartment)

There is also water that will run down the windshield, from the inside, and you can hear air leaking from the windshield at highway speeds. I couldn't decide if the water leaking down the inside of the windshield was a result of it coming from the windshield seal itself, or because it's up in the headliner and that's just another way for the water to drip down.

Another problem that seems unique to me, is that in the winter months, frost builds from the inside of the truck, so instead of scraping the outside Windows, I have to do both! I mention this because it seems like to me, that if it were one of the common little leaking spots, this wouldn't happen.... (Of course there could be several spots that are leaking)

Do you think it might just be a bad seal around the windshield and/or bad weatherstripping along the doors? If the seal is bad enough to cause frost and humidity inside the vehicle, it's probably a big one, right? But would that cause the water all over the carpet and in the center console thing on the headliner?

Any direction would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like you might have more than one leak. Best way to test glass for leaks is use foaming glass cleaner. Spray it around the windshield, then use an air hose to blow around the edge of the glass from the inside. When you get to a leaking area, the glass cleaner will bubble. You can do this on other areas, make sure the cleaner wont hurt the paint first.

So what I found out;

The windshield does indeed leak. So, I've gotten a quote from a local shop that will pull the windshield out and reseal everything for 100 bucks, and since the windshield is fairly new, there aren't even any rock chips, so no need to replace the whole thing.

There is also a pretty bad leak that comes in between the passenger side front and rear doors (It's a extended cap 3 door) It looks like the weatherstripping is all there and doesn't seem to be any damage, but if you run a house around the door jams on top, the water runs right through the gap between the front and rear door. Not exactly sure what to do about this, my guess is the dealership would charge an arm and a leg to replace the weatherstripping around both those doors
