2015 Silverado Crew Cab Insurance Premiums

Recommended Posts

I know there are a lot of broad contributing factors when it comes to auto insurance premiums but I just recently received my third policy renewal from GEICO for my 2015 Silverado CC and I am shocked that my rates went up by 20% (++$130). First policy for the truck was $628, second policy was $645, third policy/current renewal rate $774.

I live in Atlanta, GA and I have been with GEICO for 9+ years since I started driving. I have never had a claim, ticket, or accident. I called GEICO about the increase and they claim there was a statewide increase for all of GA effective this month. I find that a little hard to believe.

Anyway I am looking for other peoples experiences since this increase doesn't seem acceptable to me. I have great coverage and pay more for the lowest possible deductibles. I also have a number of add on services through GEICO such as Roadside Assistance and Rental Reimbursement.

Should a customer of 9+ years with no claims be subject to such an increase?

Mine went up a little too. They said it's because of the amount to accidents around this area has risen and, well, so does our rates I guess. I was pissed to find out I'm being punished by other peoples shit driving and called other companies other then Geico, comes to find out Geico has the best rates still...

When premiums go up that is when you need to go shopping for new insurance, just had to do that on one of my motorcycles. Insurance companies do not care about how long you have been with them or how many years you have went without making a claim. I always shop around in March of every year with a minimum of 5 different insurance agencies and get quotes on house, trucks, and motorcycles separately and then combined mainly because motorcycle insurance varies greatly with different companies. I have switched often throughout the years but have been with on company for my vehicles and house for nearly 7 years now but I will drop them in a heartbeat if I can find the same coverage for a cheaper price.

Looked at a 2016 that had a retail value of $8 or $9 grand above my 2013 msrp. 2013 has a 6.2L & slightly lower crash test score. 2016 had a 5.3L, more safety crap & better crash test results.

None of that mattered. Insurance claimed one of the digits in the VIN denotes a value of vehicle category. Since the 2016 had a higher retail, the premium would go up another

$100 or so dollars. Am thinking that is per year, but do pay my premiums bi annual & did not clarify.

A year ago I shopped some quotes on the 2013. Farmers Insurance was dead on same dollar as my current ins co. Another multi co agency was $100 higher on my truck & wanted to double my

home owners policy. Have never had the lowest ins premiums others talk about. No tickets, accidents, vehicle is always in a garage etc.

As others have said, shop around and if you find a cheaper comparable insurance company and you call Geico to cancel, you might be surprised, how all of the sudden there are other discounts they can give you to lower your insurance.

All I can say is I wish. I had an accident for the first time in many years with a good record and my insurance just went up to $1700.00 per year. That is with forgiveness. The next quote was $2600.00 :(

I am 42 but use my truck for work so that drives it up a little. Also in Canada so in American dollars it is probably $700. Ha ha

Wowzers you get hosed on insurance.

Canadian here as well. 32M and 30F...drive a 2013 Explorer Limited and 2016 Sierra SLT...both fully insured..pay $125/month for coverage on them.

Insurance rates vary so much. Territory, drivers record/infractions, drivers credit history, claims history, levels of coverage, etc etc.

No two people pay the same price for the same insurance coverages on the same vehicle or so it seems to me. Professionals pay less on insurance than others. Same for those with higher levels of college education.

Join an association for better discounts. Shop around. It seems insurance costs me $600/year on average regardless of vehicle for full coverage.

I'm in the east Atlanta metro area. I have State Farm with roadside and rental assistance with I think a $500 deductible. I'm at $1100 per year. I have had no problems with SF so far.

I want y'alls premiums. I have never had a wreck ( don't jinx me please ), or a ticket on my name. My premium is 1,001.00 for 6 months. I pay $171.00 a month with Geico. That premium is AFTER getting rid of rental car, upping one deductible, and canceling 2 or 3 others things. Idk wtf it's so high for me for. ( Edit: I have checked into State Farm and a few others and monthly all over those are 200 plus... I gave up even trying anymore. )

IMO Geico is a ripoff, quite frankly. Many get sucked in by their marketing/commercials, which, btw, are what you are paying for with those inflated prices..

Time to shop for insurance.

I have a 2021 6.2 Chevy Silverado, and just did a muffler and flapper delete. Sounds amazing but is way to loud on the highway and drones way too much for me. I am wanting to put a muffler back on but I want one that is as loud as I can get with no drone. I was looking at the Flowmaster 50 Delta Flow, the 40 series delta flow, or a Magnaflow 22 inch muffler... I am wondering the pros and cons of all of these, if they drone, and how loud they really are. I have watched a bunch of Youtube videos on them and they just don't do a justice for how loud the drone is. If you guys have any other suggestions for what to put on there I am open! Thank you!

2015 Silverado no crank no start with key. (have engine light on dash and also have u422) have replaced starter and battery. have 12.5 volts at the starter. checked 2amp fuse in dash for ignition switch, checked under the hood 15amp fuse that powers the ignition switch, checked the 60 amp fuse in fuse box. also checked the 40 amp fuse, checked starter relay in fuse box under hood. tried jumping starter relay post and got nothing. have 12.5 volts at power leg of starter relay, have ground on ground leg of relay. can jump starter solenoid with screw driver and truck runs and drives.

gear shift selection shows park when in it and neutral. Anybody have any ideas of what could be going on?

Any help before I have to leave the truck at the dealer for a few days would be great.
      2017 Silverado
Dual 7 pin and 4 pin connector
Test the 7 pin :  8 volts when grounded to the wiring harness
Test the 4 pin : 7-8 volts when grounded to the wiring hardness
Test the 7 pin :  8 volts when grounded to the Frame
Test the 4 pin : 7-8 volts when grounded to the Frame

7-8 Volts on when testing at the fuse panel  under the hood. Grounded to the engine block.
Relay seems good, all 4 fuses are good.  Other Fuses like lights, radio and wipers all bring back 12v range.

I am not sure where to go from here. I don't want to miss a ground wire or something.
I did clean and re-attach the ground wire next to the brake controller under the rear of the truck.

      Thanks,

I have a 2021 Silverado 1500 Custom. As soon as it starts getting cold outside (around or just below freezing) the screen on my back up camera frequently goes green. Brought it into the dealership last winter and they couldn't recreate the problem so they weren't able to do anything. Anyone else have this happening and know if there is a fix?

Got a 07 Silverado 1500 classic crew cab with the short bed 5.8ft. Need to replace my bed but having trouble finding another short bed.

does anyone know if I could put the regular 6ft bed on and will the wheel wheel/fuel filler neck, and bolts line up?

      thank you
