So yesterday I left for work and heard a clunk and then the truck started running terrible. It runs very rough and has a deep growl to it. I have much less power and really bad vibration. When I come to a stop at 500rpm, the truck is growling and vibrating bad. I popped the hood and had somebody hold the brake while in gear and I'm hearing noises coming from the engine. Any idea what this could be? It's a 2014 Sierra 1500 5.3 with 50k.

No I checked all of that last night. I watched this morning on the way in that it runs like shit each time it drops down to v4. V8 seems to still run fairly normal. My concern now is I've been running Amsoil Signature Series which claims when matched with their filter, it's a 25,000 mile oil change. I've been changing it at 12,500. I'm sure they will now void my warranty due to it not being "their oil" and not changing it at 7500 like the manual says.

Is the Check Engine light on? If it's a misfire, (plug, wire or injector), it will set a misfire code. If not, I'm thinking a torque converter lock up issue?

No engine light. I was thinking torque cover term originally but I've been looking around at problems with the AFM system. I'm hoping to god its not bad pistons and rings or lifters. If it is, I wouldn't think it would throw a check engine light but not positive.

What was the resolution to this issue?    I'm experiencing something similar.

Any difference when you shut it off and turned it back on ?

You should have a 6yr 100K powertrain if you are not over on both take it in if you suspect engine or driveline.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This could be a problem.

Just because any Oil Manufacturer claims longer intervals, the EcoTech DI engine internals relating to AFM are susceptible to problems with dirty or old oil.

Some small contaminants could be plugging up the screen in the system or a port on a lifter or two.

Seeing how his last response was 3 years ago lol...

I bet he sold the truck and left GM...

If you have any clunking and loss of power or hard shifting, it may seem like a misfire but in my case it was the TC going bad.

Truck is at the shop now getting a trans rebuild. I didnt take the dealers amazing price of $5000 for a re manufactured one.

Im at 120k miles on a 2014.. this shouldnt have happened this early. If youre under warranty, take it in asap and pay to get it diagnosed.
