Replacing Airbags after an accident

Recommended Posts

Hello. I need help with something, I had an accident in my 2010 Chevrolet Silverado LT, both frontal airbags deployed, I know I have to replace them both but I wanted to know if I should buy another part so I won't see the airbag service light on my dashboard. Thank you for your help in advance.

You might have to replace the clock spring sometimes the connectors melt to the bag itself from the heat and you will have to replace the diagnostic module and then take it to the dealer to have it programmed and it is recommended that you replace the sensors in the area that was impacted and you need the check your seat belts also because I'm 99% sure the seat belts have a charge in them and they lockup after an impact, only the front two.

I thought that when the air bags deploy the vehicle was considered totaled by the insurance company. Did you by pass them, or purchase the vehicle back on a salvage title?

Haha.. It's kind of funny. I live in Venezuela and we are going trough a difficult situation with our government, I invite you to do some research. Everybody here goes they're own way (even insurance companies or private hospitals).

The insurance response was that they would pay for $1500 because that's the amount of money they calculate it will be for replacing everything (this was October 2015) till this date they haven't payed a penny and I have spent more than $3000 and still need to buy airbags, seat belts and any other part related to airbags (with is why I'm asking this question). All these parts I need to replace are quite expensive and I can't afford them.

In my country is better to repair your vehicle than to get paid for a totaled car. They would have paid $4500 for my truck and if I replace everything I can sell it for 20k easily
