switching from tow mirrors to standard

Okay, I have looked all over the forum and some people have touched a little on what I'm looking for but not enough for me to figure out my problem.

I just switched from the power fold tow mirrors that comes on the max tow trucks to the standard power fold mirrors. Everything went smoothly except for the exterior lighting. My old tow mirrors had the amber lights on the front of them and the new ones have the small white light under them to light up when entering the truck. The problem is the amber lights on the front of the old mirrors were always on at night and runs off the same circuit that the small door illumination light runs on. So now the small light is on all the time at night lighting up the side of my truck (I'm sure cops love that)

I need to figure out how to change that? Is it in wiring or programming?

Hopefully someone can help me!

I think you need to change out the door harnesses, or you might be able to change some of the mirror connector pins to make it work the way you want. Might want to check the threads on the mirror swap in the mods and for sale section, but just go in reverse.

Yes you need to switch out the door harnesses as well.

I upgraded from DL8 mirrors (regular) to tow mirrors and had to switch out the door harnesses. Once you do that everything will work as intended.

Yes I did the same swap. Went from DLQ mirrors to DL3. Had the same issue. You need to swap out the door harnesses..

I am switching out my DL8s to DPNs. I will have the DL8s harnesses after I replace them. I am willing to swap harnesses if you send me yours and I will do the same.

would love to do this but then we both have to either take our door panels off multiple times or not drive until we get them

I was hoping someone had theirs that they took out?

anyone have a picture of the harnesses that you are talking about? or description as it goes from the pig tail on the mirror to ______ ?

I can do mine first and I can accept money through Paypal. The harnesses are three days old and I should be doing the swap this week hopefully. Once I receive your harnesses I will refund the Paypal transaction.

You need DL3 harnesses to work. DL8 are the LT/SLE mirrors. Also the auto dim on the drivers side doesn't work without the swap. I made a post about this a few months ago with part numbers..
