Fuel filter in a 2007 gmc 2500 hd ?

hi guys and gals i was wondering if you happen to know if the fuel filter can be changed out in my 2007 gmc 2500 HD gas 6.0 L vortck, thank you !

No inline fuel filter on gas trucks after 2004 on HD trucks, and 2005 on 1500 trucks. There is only a strainer assembly and it is part of the fuel pump.

Yup. If you want, you can retrofit the filter from the '03 and earlier models to the fuel line. I did it on my '04 Sierra after seeing how feeble the 'sock/filter' is on the fuel pumps and plugging up my injectors from crap in one of my fuel tanks [i've got a Cab&Chassis which has 2 fuel tanks]. It's a pretty straightforward job.

I saw on a show that a 100 micron was good for in the tank. Then under the body a 10 micron was good. So, if two are good then how did they eliminate one.

 

 

Did they just consolidate both filters into one inside the fuel tank?

Interesting.....my 2001 2500HD with the gas 6.0 had a strainer on the fuel pump and it has an inline filter. When I replaced the fuel pump I got the "new style" AC delco one which did not have a strainer......I wonder if the new trucks don't have any type of filter.....not necessarily bad, my fuel injected raptor 700 doesn't have a fuel filter

Yeah, GM had inline fuel filters up to '03 I believe, then they switched to all-in-one strainer/fuel filter/fuel pump in the fuel tank. It does help the fuel pump to only get filtered gas, but it also makes for an expensive fix when the filter gets plugged.

A good argument for having the pump out of the tank, and having a readily accessible filter just before it. But that makes sense, and GM is lacking in that department on many issues.
