? About Rancho 9000X Shocks

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone

I just installed the Rancho 9000X Shocks on the rear of my 99 Silverado 4X4 Z71. The shocks I removed were Gabriel Gas charged Shocks. I noticed that the Gabriels automatically extend all the way out. I can push the shocks inward, but then they again automatically shoot out. The Rancho's however do not. I can push them all the way in, but then I have to pull them out.

Is this Normal?

Thanks

Paul

seems to me if you have to "pull them back out" they are broken. How do you think your truck will be able to "pull them out" after they compress in a bump. But I may be wrong, maybe it has to do with the patented IAS or whatever inertia control thing.

The Rancho 9000's are a hydrolic shock and not gas charged. All gas charged shocks will extend when not under pressure but a straight hydrolic shock will not.

The gas charge is to help keep air out of the hydrolic fluid durring hard use but isn't needed with the driving most of us do.

Have 9000's on my old 69 Scout and they are great due to the adjustability.

Mike
