Regearing for 35in tires with new 8speed/3.42 package

Have read a lot about regearing when running 35in tires. Most of the information is coming from people with 6speed transmissions. Anybody have experience driving the new gmc 8speed trannys with the 3.42 gears on 35in tires. How does it run? Is regearing as much of a necessity with the 8speed?
