Job 1 Day 1 build

Recommended Posts

Looks like I get a Job 1 (for Double Cabs), Day 1 built truck. Checked status this morning and was told "the vehicle has been produced and is in transit". I had always heard that a "Monday" vehicle was the worst for defects. Hope that's just an old wives tail. :fingersx:

VIN is 1GCVKSEJ6HZ100xxx

Anyone know how many are actually produced per day?

As a point of reference, the GM Arlington plant produces 1200 SUVs *per day*: http://arlington.gm.com/Facilities/public/us/en/arlington/about_us.html

Assuming 24/7 production, that's a vehicle every 72 seconds. Even faster if they don't run truly continous. So I would expect the truck plants to be right up there as well.

Then I'm in the first 25% of the first day. . . . . . I hope that's a good thing . . . . :dunno:

I'd be worried. That early means your more likely to be in the "oh, yeah, I am supposed to connect that now" or "oops, that's the new torque setting for that now" as the worker bees retrain to become assembly robots through repetitive tasks.

We dont have to worry about that. The 17's are just an extension of the 16's with a few minor changes.

Robots? Oh really? Then explain the tacos I found in my K2 on delivery.

didn't have to be from the plant, could also have 'added' in transit

rail yard, truck distribution, buddy at the dealer.....

I work in a GM assembly plant. I'm an assembly line worker. I've got 18 years in with GM. I would have NO ISSUE at all buying the 1st car on a Monday, the last car on a Friday, or any other time during the week that a vehicle is produced. My mentality and that of many of my coworkers is to make the vehicle perfect. You never know when your kid will be in that vehicle, or on the road with it.

Thanks Buck, that's good to hear

Bye the way, if you happen to see a White Z71 Double Cab siting in the yard, would you mind asking the guys to send it along. I sure would like to take my lady to church tomorrow in it. . . . . . :D
