Changing stock D5S bulb

Recommended Posts

I live in rural area and drive mostly back roads. They are a lot of deer out here and I like to see them before i hit them. Yes probably if you live in the city the stock bulbs will do just fine for you.

I agree. Deer are a big concern where I live.

Has anyone noticed as the lights heat up they will flash off for a second about half way through?

Can't say I ran into that problem... please keep us informed if something gets worse.

Hi I just signed for this forum, but I've been following this thread for a while. Limited360 do you still have a pair of 5500K available for sale?

Yes I do. send me a message and I can get you information on costs and such.

I got my pair from Limited360 in the mail today. I installed them as soon as I got them. Driver's side was super easy, but passenger side was kind of a biatch. Had to remove the entire airbox, the little metal crossbar, and some plastic caps that hold the protective rubber material in place. Was kind of a pain but I managed to do it okay. Will give it a drive tonight to see how they look at night. I have the Z71 package which provides the LED fog lights, so when running low beams + fog lights at night, I feel the lighting is very decent but the high-beams are kind of weak. I am looking forward to seeing how the low beams will look without fog lights on, and how much it helped the high beams.

I just hope the factory wiring is adequate to supply the increased 35W of power mainly in summer time, and that I am not affecting on-coming vehicles with any unnecessary glare. But I have confidence that Morimoto know what they are doing.

Looking forward to the feedback! Glad they made it there quickly and safely!

Sorry they are just iPhone 6S photos but it's what I got for now. The first picture is on a pitch black road with just the low beams. I haven't played with the high beams much yet. Definitely brighter but also brought out some hot spots in the beam pattern. I would also prefer the OEM 4300K color temp, but this is a noticeable difference. Where I previously felt that I needed the fog lights when driving around, it seems like just the low beams are now more than enough.

To me it looks like your headlamps are aimed a little low, especially the drivers side. You may benefit from raising them slightly and verifying they are level side to side. Also check to make sure the drivers side is seated correctly, that hot spot does seem worse than mine.

Which kelvin matches the led stock fogs better? 5500k or 6500k?

6500k at startup

6500k 30 seconds after start up

I do believe the 5500k will match better fully warm per Mr. Elusive's picture.
