In cab drivers side rattle

Recommended Posts

I once had a parts guy truck that he swore the bottom was about to come out of it. Test drove and checked everything possible. He took me for a ride and I said did you look under seats......he said no, the damn front end is falling apart. I looked and found a can of crush pineapple soda under drivers seat, voila, noise gone. Guess what his new nickname was :idiot:

It's definitely inside the cab. Sound like it's coming from the hood release area.

I have run into the metal bracket on the back of the knee bolster being loose. Take it off and check it. I have also found that the 7mm bolts behind the knee bolster loose. Check it as well when you got the knee bolster off.

I have a 2007 Classic Silverado Duramax.  I had a rattle that sounds like what is being discussed.  I found that it was the hood release cable where it is routed along the left front fender.  A couple of the plastic ties that hold the cable were broken.  The cable was banging on the sheet metal under the hood.  The sound was being transmitted through the firewall via the cable.  It sounded like it was coming from under the dash on left side.
