Maybe a new colorado/canyon?

Sounds right. GM has been very tight on incentives on the little trucks. They seem to sell quite well even at that. Resale seems quite strong right now too at the auctions. Used car manager saw two diesel LT crew cabs hammer at 34-35K. MSRP was probably 40-42k for those. I wouldn't doubt whoever bought those will sell them for $37-38K.

That's good to know about holding their value. I would love the mpg, just uncertain if it's enough rough for musical equipment i carry weekly in crew 1500. Im definitely closer to pulling the trigger, especially everytime i relflect on possibility of getting 20+ mpg.

Went from 2000 Silverado 5.3 to Colorado v6. Loved driving the Silverado but was getting old and wanted better mileage. I get 23 with Colorado and ride and power are great. Have a low speed drivability issue with transmission and engine not on same page. I think they all do it. Bothers me but not others.

I just made this switch.  My wife and I discussed trading in my 2015 Sierra for the past couple of months which is right after we purchased her 2017 Acadia All-Terrain.  I grew to love the mid-size platform and after discussing it we realized I rarely ever haul anything except maybe once or twice a year, we no longer have our travel trailer and even if we got another one I would get a smaller one, and I was averaging at best 15-16 MPG with the Sierra.

I looked at both the Canyon (as I really like that look) and the Colorado this past weekend.  The GMC dealer wouldn't budge much from MSRP on a 2018 SLE that I was looking at. They would only come down about $1000 before rebates, and since we own GM vehicles we didn't qualify for the Conquest rebate.  I then went and looked at a Colorado Z71 in the Graphite Metallic color (very similar if not the same as my wife's Acadia's Iridium Metallic color) and liked that it had the leather interior I wanted and the dealer had installed the step assist bars which helps our 6 year old son get in and out of the truck.  It also had the blacked out bow ties.  I waited two days to pull the trigger as the deals were nearly identical but the Chevy dealer had a little bit better discount and was willing to work with my financing.  The GMC guy just insulted both me and Chevy when I told him I was deciding between the two.  The Canyon had cloth interior and no other options other than the Driver Alert Package.

All said and done today I am officially driving the Colorado.  I really like how it drives compared to the full size.  I got a crew cab Colorado whereas my Sierra was an extended cab.  Both of our kids (6 year old and 10 year old) both say there's more room in the back seat of the Colorado.  My wife likes the "carbon fiber" look of the center console where the cup holders are.  The truck looks sharp!  The next two things I will be doing is adding the Homelink module which I can't believe GM never offered and get a spray in bed liner.  After that is a tonneau cover, the BakFlip MX4 like my Sierra had.

I turned in my 2016 Silverado Lease, bought a used 2017 Colorado, drove it for about 50 days, absolutely hated the truck. I got online found my turned in 2016 Silverado and traded the Colorado for it... I lost about $2000 in the process but, would have paid even more to be out of the Colorado.. Drive one for a while before you decide, the major deal breaker for me was interior space, the Colorado is more cramped than my 1998 Ford Escort was, I was always banging my knee on the dash, keys tapping my knee while driving, arm didn't reach the arm rest with my hand on the wheel, and the seats fit me so poorly that after 30 mins behind the wheel my legs really started to hurt / go numb... It was the most disappointing vehicle I've ever owned... I got 2-3 mpg better with the 3.6 4x4 crew cab vs my 5.3 4x4 dbl cab, it was a little easier to park and gained me some room in the garage but, in the end I hated that Colorado... At one point I thought about pushing it off a cliff lol....

Came from a Sierra 5.3 to a Canyon V6, in mountains I average 22.8, on highway at steady speeds I average 25.3 with a best over a 50-mile stretch at 65 mph of 31.1 mpg (manual gas pedal, no cruise control). Easily fits in garage, easy to park even in narrow Walmart spots, drives almost like a car but electric steering not a positive as our Honda Accord. Would like to have push-button start vs key, dual zone climate, shark-fin antenna vs mast antenna (gets damaged in car washes), and the narrow front seats are not made for large people. Very good carrying and towing numbers but not like the Sierra. Also, even with rebates/incentives, Canyon SLT (special order with almost everything) was $14,235.00 less than similar equip and option Sierra in my area, and I did a lot of shopping. For me, a good value for a truck that meets all my needs. But doing an around-the-block dealer test drive is not enough, so I highly recommend renting one for a few days, get to really find out the pro's and con's, then decide for yourself.
