95 Chevy 1500 4x4 Power Windows will not go up or down

Recommended Posts

Both drivers side and passenger side windows will not go up or down. We looked at the fuse/relay which is on the left hand side of the drivers area. The rely/fuse is a silver rectangle two prong fuse. When he turns the key on it gets very hot. We verified that the electric motors work by removing the switches on the door panels and jumping the wires. I am assuming there is a short somewhere, the question is where? Anyone have this same problem? If so how did you accomplish the fix?

Since the drivers door is used more, it's likely the short will be on that side. Pull drivers door inside panel off, trace wires that well lead into the pillar area. Pull wires out of the pillar area, short should be in there. I mentioned removing the inside door panel since it's easier to fish these wires into the inside door section and repair.

I will look into that. Would the short cause both driver and passenger side not to work correctly?

Yes, mine was the auto locks, neither side would work. Fuse that you mention got very hot on mine also.
