Thinking of Removing Air Dam

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of removing the air dam on my truck to provide better ground clearance and an overall better look. Just curious what you guys thought and wondering if anyone has already and has experienced any MPG loss or things in that nature?

Remove it. I did on my Silverado and it looks much better. Haven't really noticed any difference with MPG. I'm sure there is one, but it must be pretty minimal.

I lost right at 1 mpg on my 2015. Haven't and probably won't take it off my 2016. I do think it looks better removed.

I did it and lost exactly 1 mpg in all around driving. I just put it back on after almost two years without it.

Why did you put it back on?

One mile per gallon is a pretty significant loss just for air dam removal, imo. If this is (or even close) the loss, I recommend leaving it alone.

Here's a before/after of my truck with it on and off. My truck also has a 2" level on it.

Looks great!

I wanted my 1 mpg back! I missed it.

I drive a lot and it really will help my long term fuel cost.

I put almost 65,000 miles on mine last year. That's a few bucks I left on the table to look cool! With the 275/65/20's and no air dam I am averaging about 15.5 mpg. I decided to keep this truck and run it into the ground rather than trading it for a new model so I am going to try to up the mpg a little for the next 150k miles.

I personally like it on my truck I usually average 17 mpg and I have 35's. But I also feel like it depends, I've seen some trucks on here that look pretty good without it but for the most part I like itdc9eb20feccb3e767baf5b4cfe23efee.jpg
