ethanoneal Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 I'm thinking of removing the air dam on my truck to provide better ground clearance and an overall better look. Just curious what you guys thought and wondering if anyone has already and has experienced any MPG loss or things in that nature?
dasimmon Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 I say go for it. Looks a lot better without in my opinion
SilveradoSaver Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Remove it. I did on my Silverado and it looks much better. Haven't really noticed any difference with MPG. I'm sure there is one, but it must be pretty minimal.
Dock Rocker Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 I did it and lost exactly 1 mpg in all around driving. I just put it back on after almost two years without it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
SilveradoSaver Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Here's a before/after of my truck with it on and off. My truck also has a 2" level on it.
Aldila Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 I lost right at 1 mpg on my 2015. Haven't and probably won't take it off my 2016. I do think it looks better removed.

Donstar Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 One mile per gallon is a pretty significant loss just for air dam removal, imo. If this is (or even close) the loss, I recommend leaving it alone.

Dock Rocker Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Why did you put it back on? I wanted my 1 mpg back! I missed it. I drive a lot and it really will help my long term fuel cost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dock Rocker Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 I hear that...my more reasonable side has me thinkin its not the best idea I put almost 65,000 miles on mine last year. That's a few bucks I left on the table to look cool! With the 275/65/20's and no air dam I am averaging about 15.5 mpg. I decided to keep this truck and run it into the ground rather than trading it for a new model so I am going to try to up the mpg a little for the next 150k miles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Abearclaw Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 I personally like it on my truck I usually average 17 mpg and I have 35's. But I also feel like it depends, I've seen some trucks on here that look pretty good without it but for the most part I like it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
gary.smedley Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 I like it off. If I was worried about MPG, I wouldn't own a V8 [emoji57][emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
