3 Recalls Done Today and I Have 1 Question

1. Staying (stuck) in 4X4 in cold weather. This one said expired with base warranty. anyway the service advisor said that it had expired since it was not a safety recall. The the service advisor said its just a reprogram of the transfer case module and they would do it.

My question is i thought this recall required a module being replaced in the transfer case not just a reprogram and it was strange that the day before i went in for service the recall disappeared from owner center website and my mobile app poof like a candle in the wind. so was it really just a reprogram?

2. I had the seat belt recall fixed and I asked that they not cut the dust cover or what ever it is and they told me they had to many complaints and just swap it out it looks like they performed the better option of just swapping out the parts.

3. Air bag reprogram completed

Nope, that recall was just a reprogramming of the Transfer Case Control Module. Nothing needed to be replaced.

Also it's not a recall but TSB. Recalls do not usually expire.

The seatbelt recall was actually upgraded end of last year/beginning of this year. They now replace the side panel of the seat instead of cutting the rubber.

Sort of. The replacement side panel piece comes from the factory already cut. So the rubber is still cut but it is a cleaner, straighter cut instead of a tech hack job.

Some dealerships have just been replacing the cable and not cutting the rubber since people were complaining. It sounds like that's what his dealer did.

my dealer used the factory cut piece which i was fine with. I actually took a hack job picture in and said don't do this...

Correct, safety recalls never expire.

TSB's are Technical Service Bulletins....they are simply info to help techs diagnose and repair. Might be for updated parts or service procedure, but that's all they are.

Had my dealer reflash the transfer case module 2 months ago, I wasn't going to wait for it crap out. As I remember the TSB it indicated that it was to be routinely done any time one of the vehicles was brought in for routine service. It involved reprogramming of the transfer case, but after examination might require replacement of the module.

Programming only. No module. Maybe splitting hairs but it is a "service update" listed under "campaigns". Not recall or tsb. Actually there are two different campaigns listed, 15034 and 28770. Same fix.
