Anyone use Fumoto F107N Oil Drain Valve?

Please explain how to fill a horizontally mounted filter.

I haven't changed the oil on my truck yet but my Harley has a horizontal oil filter and I change it regularly. I simply fill the filter and don't waste time screwing it back on the mount. No drips,no mess.

Please explain how to fill a horizontally mounted filter.

Quite easily:

1) Fill filter (giving fluid level time to lower as the filter element absorbs oil) and quickly install. Only a small amount of oil will weep out, and that is only until it is threaded on (fill through the exit hole at center of filter). You'll need to hold the filter vertically to do this, not hold it horizontally as it mounts.

2) Fill filter only halfway and promptly install. As the half-filled filter won't have enough oil to reach the center threaded hole when laid on its side and oil won't have seeped though the filter element, you won't get any leaks.

3) Don't worry about it as the 5.3 in the K2 trucks is vertical.

Installed a fumoto valve, used it once to drain. Was like damn this drains way too slow. Back to drain plug.

I think the slow draining is the major downfall to the fumotos, but I'm hoping that by being able to just direct the oil right into my old oil jugs, i'll be able to save the time it would have taken to drain into the oil pan, then take the oil pan and funnel and fill up the old jugs with the oil. I went with the 107SX and I'm probably going to get another one for the wife's van as well.

Just wondering, those who bought it and installed it, did you have to get the adapter along with the valve? Some say to get it but when i look at the drain plug it looks like it will be fine w/o the adapter.

I bought the 107SX and I didn't use an adapter. You don't really need it.

I like the fact that I don't get oil all over the place when I change my oil and I can fill up whatever bin I want easily. Is it necessary, not at all. Is it a waste of money, probably. Do i prefer it over the regular bolt, absolutely! Am i worried that I can't use a gimmicky magnetic drain plug, not at all. There are much better ones that clamp around your oil filter if your worried about metal contaminants.
