Looking at a 2007 Yukon SLT

My wife and I are looking to downgrade her car payment and term length to a vehicle we can pay off quickly. There's a used car dealer in our area that has a 2007 Yukon SLT for sale. It has just under 100k on the clock, looks very clean as we test drove it yesterday and it drove very well. Steering was tight which surprised me given its age. It's fully loaded with power everything like my wife wants. Brakes are good, transmission shifts good, engine has plenty of power. Brand new Michelin tires. The 3rd row seats have large cubby holes in the middle which I've never seen before.

The only issue I saw was the dash has a crack near the passenger airbag cover but from what I read it's common. Also there's a crack on the passenger side dash on the front piece that faces the passenger. Not sure how common that is. Carfax is clean on it.

I'm quite familiar with 5.3l since a had a 2007 Silverado bought new and had for several years and I have a lot of faith in the LS engine. Is there anything I need to be concerned with on this vehicle? We would like to keep it until it falls apart. [emoji4]. Haven't purchased it yet as we are still thinking over it.

AFM is the only concern of the 5.3 of that year. I'm petrified of the AFM 5.3. I'll never own one. If you look at Yukon Denalis or Escalades, they have the 6.2 with no AFM.

And personally, if it was me, I'd look for an '08 or newer, just because I'm not a fan of buying the first year of a new platform.

As long as it's maintained, these Yukons will live on for a looong time. My parents purchased a 2007 Yukon XL SLT back in 2006 and it never gave them issues, nor did it have oil consumption problems.

If it looks good and drives good, I'd say go for it. For peace of mind, you can by the Range AFM Disabler that plugs into the OBD port and turns off V4 Mode that is the root cause for oil consumption on this generation of 5.3.

Thank you!! Do I need to worry about the lifters or installing the AFM Delete kit or will the Range AFM protect the engine? It has approximately 99k miles.
