Need help with gas gauge

Hey, guys, I need some help. I put a bit of gas in my truck yesterday enough for maybe a gallon or 2 from E, I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado extended cab, v6 engine, 4.6. Well, the issue is that I put in enough for 1 or 2 gallons and its reading at half full, I have a road trip this weekend and I need to figure out what the issue is, any ideas?

My guess is bad sending unit in the tank. I've heard that good fuel system cleaner can help the float move more freely but I have no experience getting that to work.

Try a double dose of Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner with a full tank of fuel. You may be able to revive it
