Oil Gauge stuck past 80? How to reset?

I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 3500 DRW 8.1, the oil gauge is pegged past the 80. I have replaced the oil sensor switch but can't reset the gauge...

Not familiar with that gauge or that cluster, but if it's an older style analog gauge, I have reset them by simply smacking flat handed on the gauge face - not too hard of course so as to break anything but hard enough to jar it off the peg...

sounds like a bad stepper motor. Don't try to replace yourself, send it in to be repaired an have the other stepper motors replaced and cluster lights upgraded to LED.

I would have bet on the stepper motor since those are a common issue . . . but the OP has posted only once over 5 weeks ago, so I don't think we'll ever know.
