2000 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 Ext Cab 5.3 Fuel pump

Recommended Posts

I am fixin to start in on the fuel pump replacement (been reading the forums here). My question is I have the Ext Cab short bed (26 gallon) I think not 100% sure.

On the replacement pump from reading there is 3 different models of them. One with Evap, one without and another one. Is it easier to raise the bed than dropping the fuel tank out of the truck?

** Adding in the fuel gauge stays at full all the time except when it gets a little lower in the tank. This sensor is on the fuel pump itself correct?

Does anyone have any screenshots of this doing it either way?

thanks

Fuel level sender is part of the pump.

As for getting the right pump before starting, I would suggest jacking up the truck a bit, setting your phone to take a video w the flash on, then video taping the top of the fuel tank. There's enough space for you to get it up and in there to do it, just not enough to get your head up there.

Then you can match the appearance of the top of the fuel pump to the pics of the top of the fuel pumps on rockauto.com, to find the specific model you need.
