If you could/had to start over...

Had the pleasure of being rear ended by a nice girl without a license the other day.

$22,000 in damage so far, including the frame, and they’re gonna fix it!

It’ll never be my truck again, so it’ll be immediately traded.

If y’all had to replace yours... what would you do differently from your current baby?

(I’m thinking ‘16-‘17... maybe Denali)

Surprised they are not totaling it.  I think they probably would in TX.

I had a 2014 Silverado LTZ Z71 2WD 5.3 that was totaled after it rolled.

I now drive a 2017 Sierra SLT Z71 4WD 6.2 witht the Denali cluster installed.

Only thing I am missing from the Denali now is the badges, LED lights and Magnetic shocks.

(wish I had the lights as I like the full LED turn signals)

For me it was the 6.2 engine and 4WD.  The 6.2 was my must have option.

I lost the lane departure/vibrating seats option from my 2017 (it was a 2LZ?)

I give enormous credit to the 2014 for protecting my life and my sons.  We both walked away from a substantial accident. (photo attached)  It was a great truck.

Might leave off the crash avoidance package - kinda annoying - but love the Intellibeam headlamps that come with it......

In Wisconsin, they’ll fix up to 70% of the value of the truck... so we’re close. I’m hoping for more hiccups when they disassemble it, so that they’ll total it.

Forgive me... but what is the Denali cluster? The grill?

If I could start over again I'd go for a 2500 diesel, should have in the first place but it was just so damn expensive and I got a great deal on my 1500.

That said, for 1500 I'd do the following:

  • SLT (lots of extra little features standard)
  • Heated/cooled seats (I didn't want leather but those cooled seats are awesome)
  • 6.2L (never enough power)
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Center console (have the bench now, it's fine but that extra storage is nice)

Outside of the stock truck I'd prob go with a 4" lift over the 6". 2 inches isn't a ton and the wheels would fill the frame better I think. Went with 6" so I could stuff 37s under there but no way on earth I'm doing that while shes my daily.

Demand the truck be totaled....new replacement.

How much money you will lose trying to sell it due to depreciation with a CARFAX crash record?

I have a buddy who demanded a new replacement when his old beater Toyota pickup with 180,000 miles was totaled by someone.....he got a new truck.
