Anyone on here having excessive valve chatter under heavy acceleration? 2014 sierra 6.2 w/ 32,000 miles

Is it valve noise(clatter), or is it pinging (preignition)? Typically under heavy acceleration, if low octane fuel or dirty injectors are present, preignition can occur.

Yup, under heavy acceleration only is usually knocking, sounds like shaking a coffee can with ball bearings inside of it

I’m going to assume you’re not late on an oil change? Oil that is thinning when it’s around time to change it can cause it to make noise

I noticed it the day after I bought it. I’ve only put 2500 miles on it since purchased. It’s possible that she’s due for an oil change

Truckguy82 hit the nail on the head with the sound reference. I’ll try some injector cleaner and higher octane gas, and change the oil as well

6.2 engines are recommended to use 91 or higher octane to prevent pre-ignition, and for the best power output.

I’ll give it a try. I had a 2010 camaro with the LS3 that I always ran 93 in

Run a tank of premium and see if it goes away! Also I would use synthetic oil on your next change!

What you are is not valve noise. Valve lash clearance does not get loose then tight again. What you are hearing is detonation from preignition. Higher octane fuel should cure this unless you have some kind of ignition timing issue.

The dealership filled mine up with 87 when I bought it. I had detonation for the whole tank until 93 purged the system.
