Help 06 sierra keeps dying

My 06Sierra just died while I was driving , towed to house, changed battery an put few gallons gas it cranked right up, next day it died,,,, I'm thinking fuel pump, or fuel pump filter, but I'm no much of mechanic when I don't know what to fix,,, any suggestions welcomed

Don't just throw parts at it. Get a fuel pressure gauge, and verify you have 60 psi fuel pressure. If you have pressure while it dies, it's probably not the pump.

 

Cheaper to buy a gauge than to fire the parts cannon at it.

 

If the fuel filter hasn't been changed in a while, that part is an acceptable guess, since it's cheap - might as well change it. Try and blow through the old one - any restriction at all means it's clogged ... BUT, if this was the problem, the truck would start and run fine, and start to bog or die at heavy load / full throttle / high RPM.
