What coils do I have?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I'm about to replace my spark plugs and wires. Keeping it OEM of course. I really don't wanna screw up the ordering as no auto store in my country has the wires. I already got the plugs but will order the wires and 758EE is what I've read is the correct wires. How do I know what coils I have?

My truck is the same year as yours and wondering what prompted you to replace the spark plug and wires.  I know that replacing spark plugs was once a regular maintenance item but now they are supposed to be good for 100k miles.  What are the signs that they need replacing other than the odometer?

You know, I asked myself the same question after I posted. I got the truck from the first owner and I didn't get any history of maintenance done. The only thing I saw was the sticker on the windshield which was done back in Nov 2016. I suddenly have minor hesitation and I know for certain, most of this is contributed to the piss poor fuel my country has. I am using premium fuel. They don't classify them here like they do in the US with 91,93 etc. So I really don't know what I'm getting.I was just giving it a shot. Also getting P2099/P2097.

Don't blow your money on plugs and wires, here are your code readings. Code 2099 https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p2099-obd-ii-trouble-code-post-catalyst-fuel-trim-system-too-rich-bank-2-by-andrew-quinn     And code 2097  https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p2097-obd-ii-trouble-code-post-catalyst-fuel-trim-system-too-rich-bank-1-by-spencer-clayton

Thank you! I research those codes before but I was thinking it was bad gas as one of them stated that. Ive tried clearing this code but it comes back as pending sometimes and other times its just the code.

  • The post catalyst fuel trim diagnostic is very sensitive to heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) design. A non-OE sensor or an incorrect part number may cause a DTC to set.
  • Certain aftermarket air filters may cause a DTC to set.
  • Certain aftermarket air induction systems or modifications to the air induction system may cause a DTC to set.
  • Certain aftermarket exhaust system components may cause a DTC to set.

Basically it is a lean condition.  Feel free to change plugs and wires but won't help.

I don’t have any of those stuff, all OEM. I was under the truck looking for exhaust leak. Would this be considered a leak?
