Kgonzalez Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Good Morning all. First time poster, long time lurker. I have spent a good part of my morning researching some confusion I have with what I'm trying to do and most of my Google searches bring me to this site. So here I am looking for help. 2015 2500HD CC Gas VIN# 1GC1KVEG5FF539706 So truck came with the small car style power mirror/manual fold. I do not believe they have the defroster though as I do not see the logo on the glass. I would like to purchase and add some tow mirrors that have the blinker in the front and on the glass as well as the courtesy light. BUT I want it all to be functional as well. Doesn't need the power fold or power telescope though. Found mirrors I want on Ebay and Amazon. So now I'm looking for the right harness. Chevy dealership will not provide me with the correct part number for the harness. I believe I found the correct one on ebay but the seller is now telling me in order to get all this to work properly I would then have to flash the BCM. This confuses me as I thought I read the flash is only necessary on vehicles with memory seats/mirrors. When I asked the seller this his replay was "Your vehicle has RPO codes "AVF" (IDENTIFICATION EFFECTIVE POINT CONTROL, 2015 1/2 M.Y.) and also "DL8" (MIRROR,OUTSIDE,RH AND LH REMOTE CONTROL,ELECTRIC,DEFOG) These harnesses are meant for vehicles with those RPO codes, and they require BCM programming" I am very handy mechanically but horrible electrically and will not attempt hardworking etc. Also not willing to spend crazy money at the dealership either. Can somebody please help me filter all this and see if I'm wasting time. If worse comes to worse I get the mirrors and no lights work but I would prefer they all do. Thanks 1

Thanks I have helped over 400+ members here achieve a version of this upgrade. Here is my thread on it. Don’t need to go through it in its entirety (a lot to consume there), just get get the entire first post. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/198157-2014-2017-dl8-dl3-towing-mirror-upgrade-%E2%80%93-mirrors-explained/As for mirrors, one thing to look out for are any mirrors that have more than the factory 18-Pin connector them. Many like to have the lighting circuits on a separate connector that and assumes that you’ll hardware that. As for harnesses, you will need to swap your harnesses out with harnesses that’ll accommodate the lighting features of the mirror. Ok - for your 2015, since you have the AVF Code, this means you are a Mid Year 2015 and should be in better shape than if you had an early 2015. On all 2014 and early 2015, GM didn’t include the lighting circuits at the door jamb. What this means, is that even with a door harness swap, the circuits won’t make it past the door jamb. Here is a picture that explains that a little. I have YouTube video links on the thread above in the first post. Good luck, let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!BTW - I am on vacation, returning on 1/2. I will be monitoring threads and responses as I am able to. PhilSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
newdude Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Aftermarket mirrors I cant guarantee will work with the GM stuff. So I shall give you the GM info. The mirror kits from GM can be had black (p/n 23372182) or chrome (p/n 23372181). They are the exact same DPN mirrors that you can order on a truck. Power upper glass, manual lower, heated upper glass, turn signal in upper glass, backup/cargo lamp on the inside ends of the mirrors, and amber front marker lamps. On your truck. To make the lights work you need the following front door harnesses, 84125573 drivers side harness, and 84125560 passenger side harness. Per the mirror install, the BCM does list a reprogram for your truck configuration. To get the dealer to do this, you would have to buy the GM mirrors as they have an accessory authorization code to allow GM to send the reprogram info for your specifc VIN. The dealer can then reprogram the necessary modules. Now...could you install all of it and everything work? Very likely. I did my HD regular cab non AVF when I got it and I didn't have to reprogram the truck. When I called GM with the authorization code, they told me that the truck had the right calibrations.

The GM kit are $1,100.... Can't justify that kind of money on lights
newdude Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 1 hour ago, Kgonzalez said: The GM kit are $1,100.... Can't justify that kind of money on lights The mirrors retail for $625 black and $725 chrome. Harnesses are about $110 each. That doesn't add up to $1100 unless you are counting installation. You say you are mechanically handy, grab the OE stuff from one of those online GM parts places to save some $$$. 2
Kgonzalez Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 My local dealer told me $1,100. Regardless $700 or $800 is absurd as well. The $400 I found it all for is even killing me to spend. But I'll do it if I can get it to work

BUT I'm still confused. If I understand correctly you say LT would not need a refresh since I do not have memory anything. But then I was told elsewhere I would need a refresh. Still confused? Do I just purchase the harnesses and it will plug and work? 1

If you are mechanically inclined, but not electrically, my DIY Kit may be your best and low cost solution. Only $50 for that and will come will the full instructions to modify your own harnesses. pgamboa Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 And yes, in most cases, just plug it in Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ewbldavis Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 If you don't care about signal in glass or running lights, buy the "older" style. I put "older" rounded style on my 1500. Plugged right into existing harness. Power glass and defrost worked, but signal did not. I didn't care - wanted the function of the mirror, not the LED turn signal. No power fold or anything fancy like that. They worked great and took about 20 minutes to install (I had to drill 4th mounting hole).
4wdriver Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Just saw with a simple search a gm parts seller with the mirror kit meaning both mirrors under one part number like was noted above for $400 something. Mine purchased thru a friend at the local dealer were $550. On my 16 the forth hole was already there. I have used aftermarket on my old truck and own on this new truck and know the own product seems to be better overall.
Jon Spano Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Hi I have a 2015 chevy 2500hd lt with the little mirror and I have a set of tow mirrors with the marker lights and the two little lights and heated i looked at the harness at the door and noticed it was missing those 3 pins 41 11 and 9 so I have to get a hole new wiring harness to put them on 1
