Fiat Chrysler Automobile, U.S. (FCA US) has announced that it will move production of its RAM trucks from its Saltillo truck plant in Mexico to the Warren plant in Michigan. This move will mean that the approximately 6,300 jobs in the Warren plant will expand by about 2,500. The Warren plant will receive $1 billion in investment funds to modernize and prepare for the move. The next-generation RAM HD will be made there starting in 2020. Fortunately for the Mexican workers in the Saltillo plant, FCA plans to repurpose the plant building commercial vehicles for the international market.

 

“These announcements reflect our ongoing commitment to our U.S. manufacturing footprint and the dedicated employees who have contributed to FCA's success,” said Sergio Marchionne, Chief Executive Officer, FCA.
