I finally jumped the gun on a CB radio setup. I have been waiting for a local shop to install this but with the weather they have been really backed up. It doesnt look like a very hard thing to do but I am wondering if any on has advice with how to install the Antennas and cable from the pickup bed into the cab of the truck. I have not been under the truck yet to see if there are any spots the GM has left to run something in kinda like they do with the grommet in the firewall in the front of the truck. has anyone ran a CB cable into the cab and if so what seems to be the best way to do this?

 

I have a 2015 Silverado LTZ regular bed and crew cab

There are big plugs in the floor you can route the cable through without too much trouble.

Don't expect great performance with those antennas, first they are firesticks and secondly behind the cab (with a lot of the antenna below the cab) is not an ideal location. They will work, just not great and the SWR will probably be high...

Don’t know if the cable will fit but some guys are running wires for other stuff though the door jam (both sides work I think) and then the fender to the eng compartment. There’s a thread on here somewhere with pics I just can’t find it right now. But if it fits then down the firewall and back to the gap between the cab and box.

Good to know. do these plugs go directly down to the ground of the cab? i have side steps so it might be kind of hard to get under there. 
Straight down, if you crawl under the truck and look at the floor pan, you will see a big oval plug under the rear passenger's left foot (driver side). I have steps, no issues whatsoever, not even close...

Mn-Chevy - craw under your truck and look up under the rear seat  (Driver Side there a rubber plug . I have my power cables and my two-way radio antenna cable thru that plug.  Power cable run to the battery & antenna  run to the front fender / hood ( Driver side). "42" antenna .

If you're still working on this, I have pictures of mine in an album.  The drain plugs are under the back of the front seats, near the inboard rails.  If you use the forward stake holes, cut the "caps" out with a utility knife, along the "inner edge" of the rail cap markings.  Once they're open, trim the edges with the utility knife.  You may have to open up the drain holes at the bottom of the stake wells, and fish them up through, if you have 259 connectors on all three ends.  If I go dual, I'm looking at using the "firering" coax.

I don't have any digital evidence of it, but I took my antenna cable through the driver's side vent on the back of the cab. It want easy, but I don't like putting holes in my truck.

If you go this route, make sure to leave a dip in the cable between the bed and cab to act as a water break. It will stop the water from dripping down the cable into the cab.

      Looking for open fuse in engine fuse block

      Hi all. Long story short, I wired up my CB and dashcam to an open fuse in the drivers-side fuse block, and fried the whole thing. (Really!) Cost me a good bit to get it replaced.
       
      The dealer said I was drawing too much to tap in to there, and I should go to the engine fuse block instead. I've tested all the open ones on my truck (an LT) and didn't find anything with power with the key on.
       
      Does anyone know if any of the full ones are safe to pull? Or how are other doing it? Thanks in advance!

      CB Antenna coax routing

      I successfully routed my CB antenna coax through the rear cabin vent that is located behind the right rear passenger seat. 
      I found this YouTube video by Fondupot's Garage helpful.  Easy Rear Seat Removal - 2014-2017 GM Double Cab
       
      1st. Remove the four nuts and two 10mm bolts securing right rear passenger seat in place.

       
      2nd. Lift the seat up so the bracket on the back of the seat is clear of its receptacle.

       
      3rd. Gain access to the vent located behind the insulating material. 

       
      4th. Route the coax down between the bed and the cab . I used a closed zip tie to grab the coax connector and pull it through the vent into the cab.

       

       
      5. Remove the plastic cap in the forward right side of the bed. Route the coax through the bed. My magnetic base antenna just sits in in the bed so it clears the garage door. 
           There is enough slack in the coax to place the antenna on top of the cab for long distance travels.

       
      6. Route the coax underneath the floor mats up to the CB. That's my Uniden Bearcat 880.

       
      After the install, I took my other toy out to play in the snow.                     Cheers to all. I hope this helps.

      I installed an antenna on my cap and need to get the coax into the cab, I don't want to use the Back Panel Vents, Don't mind using a hole saw, just need to know best spot
       
      Its only about 1/8 of an inch COAX (RG316 PTFE 1/8" diameter coax)

      No drilling/cutting dash mount for a cb radio

      I have a 1999 Silverado with bench seat. I want to mount my cb where I can still use the controls with out having to open my console or take my eyes off the road for more than a few seconds. I really don't want to drill or cut my dash to mount it. Any ideas are appriciated.

      I want to replace the stock antenna on my hood with a Firestik so I can simultaneously use it for AM/FM and CB by using a splitter. Originally I was just looking for the best spot to mount an antenna, but stumbled on the splitter which I had no idea existed, and I think having it in the stock antenna location would be awesome. Has anyone fiddled around in that area? Aside from unscrewing the stock antenna, I have no idea what kind of work I would have to do in order to get this to come together. I assume I'd have to remove the stock mount, is that a lot of work?
       
      I tried searching a bunch but it was just coming up with normal antenna installs, nothing like what I'm looking for.
