Torqstorm Supercharger

Please correct me if I am wrong but, if you put a larger pulley on your blower it will offer more boost, not a smaller one. Your serpentine belt spins the chargers rotors that attached to the drive pulley. The serpentine rotates at a given RPM based on engine RPM. If you belt is spinning a 30mm pulley at 1,500 RPM, the supercharger rotors will be spinning faster than a 27mm pulley at the same 1500 RPM? I can see a smaller pulley offering more throttle response as there will be more parasitic loss with the larger pulley but ultimately top end rpm and peak horsepower will be higher with a bigger pulley no?

Yeah makes sense, a small wheel will rotate faster at 1500rpm than a large one. But why does everyone go to a larger pulley, or are they just talking about the crank pulley? A smaller SC pulley would mean more risk of belt slip then too?

I never had a belt slipping problem, this set up has two points of adjustments. On my 99 Ford I 5lbs was the most I went on a stock motor.

Well, I’m very experienced too but with paying people to do the work needed and when I see your knowledge and vehicles I do think, you can’t buy knowledge, you’ve got your head on straight and invest well in cars too. God Bless and thanks for your wisdom on these chats!

I have two brothers I worked with in the family business that are far more knowledgeable than me and the mechanics that worked for us. I’ve been lucky.

Hi guys. Came across this post and wanted to stop in to answer any questions anyone has about our superchargers. Main one being that our kits do not come with intercoolers. That does not mean we don't want you to run one. As stated above a supercharger compresses air, when it is compressed it becomes hot, the intercooler will cool the air charge making it more dense. Dense air = more hp. We have chose a different path than some of our competitions. And since then have notice we have started somewhat of a trend. We wanted to offer a supercharger kit that was high quality, the best warranty, affordable and gave the customer freedom to choose their destiny. Our kits come with what is needed to attach the supercharger to your engine. Head unit, brackets, pulleys, tensioner, hardware, belt, bov and bung, air filter. People like to build their own vehicle the way they like, within their budget. And no two vehicles are built the exact same. For example, one guy may have a bone stock 5.3 silverado and he wants to make an extra 100hp and thats it. The next guy might have a 6.2 silverado, with a cam, headers, more compression and e85.  Why would they both want to spend the same amount of money for the same exact kit when the injectors, fuel pump (usually a band aide boost a pump), and a hand held box tune, when they are never adequate.

So why not buy a superb supercharger kit, add the injectors that are rated for your goal, build your own intercooler setup the way you would like it. (air to air, air to water, etc) Replace the actual fuel pump not add a boost a pump, and get it dyno tuned properly to your location and build. We like to do things the right way, and have had good feedback from our customers on the path we chose.

To sum it up, you wont be dissapointed if you choose to go with a Torqstorm Supercharger. We stand behind our product and are there to answer and guide you through your build.

Feel free to email us at [email protected] or call us at 616-706-5580.

Will there be an intercooler option anytime?

Unfortunately we do not build intercoolers, so not likely any time soon. Also as mentioned we leave those items open for the customer to decide how they would like to build their particular vehicle. It isn't as difficult as some would think. Simply removing your grill, fabricate some brackets to mount the intercooler and connect piping from the supercharger to the intercooler and from it to the throttle body. By doing this you can save yourself a substantial amount of money. Most of our kits are $3-4k less than our competitors. In most cases you can finish our kit for less than $1500 over the kit cost including a dyno tune. Also with a limited lifetime warranty.

To answer the other question above, yes our kit will easily make an additional 100 rwhp. And safely with the correct corresponding parts. We do not neccessarily make a kit for the 4.3. We do however have our sbc kit that does mount to the head the same. We have not attempted a full kit for the 4.3 entirely.

Ill wait to see about this kit then.

Agree, the mufflers are glass packs followed by glass packs. I don’t go to the drags anymore, when I did it was mostly test and tune for my own information on what ever I was tinkering with at the time. First with 70 model cars, diesel trucks, then back to cars. Mostly tuning. By the mid 90s I was pretty satisfied with the performance being offered. My competition was family brothers, father and the mechanics who work for us. Most of our efforts went to the family business. I wanted one last keeper project hitting my mid 50s I was looking for an older easier build. I had a low mileage 2 door 98 Tahoe I was leaning toward it for the build. I sat down to work on a build strategy for the build. My wife was a EBayer and said why don’t you check what’s selling on there. She knew I go extreme on the build and was hoping I would find a done deal. I found the 92 with everything and more for less than the engine build would have cost me with the Tahoe. Eight years later with no thoughts of selling, that’s a first for someone who’s had over one hundred vehicles.

I love to tinker also and so much I bought a copy HP Tunes/ Expensive, yes; however a lot less expensive than a "real" Scan tool. It makes simple things easy to do..

For me, the keeper was easy; one last build and for no other reason than I wanted to build it.. The Corvette is a work in progress project. I might add more.. I'm pretty sure the blower will blow out the original equipment CATS and I'll replace them with metallic CATS.

The wife is very understanding.. I had the Volvo dealer load the Pole Star tune on her S-60 T5. I doubt she has ever floored it.

Any word on this revised kit?  I just checked your website and it say it is being revised.  Since your post was June of last year I would have guessed that the kit revision was completed by now.  Any updated is appreciated.
