Engine Dies Right after start up 5.3 V8 2017 Silverado

Recommended Posts

I have a '17 Silverado 1500 Z71 Off Road Crew Cab with 5.3L V8, 31k miles on it.

I went to start it this morning and it died, re-started, made to end of my road and died again..

I did get it to crank again and made it back to my driveway, hardly no power...

It's losing power and seems like not getting fuel to it...

I had moved it on Saturday to unload a trailer, before that hadn't been driven since Tuesday 7.3

It has roughly half tank of gas...

Anyone aware of issues, TSB, etc. for this type of issue.

I purchased the truck in January of 2017.

Thanks for any help you can provide..

It should still be under warranty. Bring it in.

I have already had it towed to the GM Dealership in town.

maybe a MAF issue? usually it works fine on a cold engine then when it warms up the computer uses it for controlling the engine.

When was the last time you filled it with gas?

I’ve heard of instances where the station somehow filled the tanks with water or something. Never know.

if it is bad gas/contaminated gas, don't expect the warranty to cover it.  Just a heads up.

Sounds like it’s one of the 2 fuel pumps that’s gone bad. I remember people having this issue over the years with the 2nd pump that’s located at the engine bay. It should be under warranty and an easy fix If that’s what it is. Keep us posted.
