Ideeho Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 I need your guy's help. I want to install my Uniden Grant LT cb radio and am not sure where I can poke through the firewall or how to get access to the right wiring to tap into any nearby power source. I am no wiring guru so I was thinking of pushing the wires and running them directly to the battery, although this is not really what I wanted to do, as I would rather it turned off when the truck is turned off, so I don't forget it on. Any help with locating nearby wires would be appreciated, I need to "tap into" them for power and I can ground the other. Thanks fellas.
ridnlow Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 Just tap into the power wire from your radio.. so when your radio is on it is on..
burgundyz71 Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 I just put my Uniden in and you can run the power lead over to the fuse block and hook in there.
Ideeho Posted August 11, 2003 Author Posted August 11, 2003 Thanks, I hope they are easy to find, like I said, I am not too up on wiring...but will give it a shot and take a look. Any ideas on a good PA speaker to mount under the hood?
MCourson Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 Any ideas on a good PA speaker to mount under the hood? I got mine at radioshack. Never had any problems and it was pretty cheap too.
Ideeho Posted August 11, 2003 Author Posted August 11, 2003 I just ran down to radio shack to get the 12 converter, works better than my trying to hassle with tapping into some unknown wire. Just sweet, has an on/off switch right on the cig adapter, and I have three of them, so why not make it easy. The PA speakers I saw down at radio shack had the two wire connectors, not the single jack plug I need for the back of my Uniden, is that just a simple fix too? Or should I get a speaker from Uniden all ready for my unit?

All I had to to was wire the speaker and plug it in. Im sure you can still get some small guage wire and a mono plug and wire it up for the 2 wire conection.
