Navigation and memory card issue

Recommended Posts

Had the same problem.  After disconnected the main wiring harness behind the dash (reset I think) everything works.  However, now whenever i connect my phone through bluetooth the sd card removed error pops up then goes away within 30 seconds.

I have had the same issue since I purchased my 2019 AT4. My GPS says the card is not installed, Android Auto didn't work and my center console wouldn't even charge my phone.

I scheduled an appointment with the local dealer for today..... Low and behold everything started working this morning.

So in short. if you want to fix this issue, just schedule an appointment

I’m having a different but related issue. Every time I start the truck, navigation says “SD card is not functioning properly.” When I click on navigation, a window pops up saying, “Once initialized, this SD card can only be used for navigation in this vehicle.” It seems like one of those messages that would pop up one time, but it’s popping up every time. This is on a 2019 Sierra

I was having the "Once initialized...." message in my less than week old Denali then I found this thread and read the response about the write protection switch on the SD card. While the truck wasn’t running I removed the SD card and slid the little write protection slider on the side of the SD card and reinserted into the reader. No more "Once initialized...." message on start up. Knock on wood, no error messages or other nags. Will respond back if this doesn’t do the trick for the "Once initialized..." message.

OnStar trial ends in 30 days.  The navigation will still work in the unit, you just won't have live traffic showing onscreen, turn by turn navigation (voice guided via OnStar - nav will still guide you with its prompts) or 4G LTE WiFi from the truck.  If you're not familiar with it, I'd strongly suggest you go back to the dealer and ask them to familiarize you with it or find something online like something on YouTube if you can find it.  When I bought my truck, the dealership had a product specialist that handled the Infotainment & Vehicle settings.

This is so much better. I had a 2016. And you had to call onstar every time.

The K2XX had generally the same thing as far as navigation is concerned, without getting into specifics.  You simply may not have had the same Infotainment RPO in that truck that you do now in your new one.  There are like 3 different types of Infotainment available and I believe that not all come with navigation.

Yep I have the premium 3 with bose

So far great.  It found a bbq place last night.  I still need to play.  This truck is load but mo wireless charging.   I see you would have to change console to add factory to it.

The wireless charging is trim level dependent.  I don't know the trim levels well enough to tell you which have it and which do not.  I would expect them to be in Silverado LTZ / Sierra SLT at least & higher or at least those that offer bucket seats with center console up to dash (since they moved wireless charging from armrest to console).  I'm not sure if POI (points of interest) that you used in navigation to find the restaurant stays with it or is up with the 30 day trial.  Out of habit, I've typically used my phone for POIs since it is updated free of charge.  That I am aware, GM maps are not updated free of charge (buy new SD card when it's available -> https://gmnavdisc.navigation.com/en_US/GMNA/USD).
