8 Speed Jerk Into Reverse?

Recommended Posts

My truck has started to JERK when shifting into REVERSE from PARK and "delayed" actually engaging. It does it every now and then but it's starting to get annoying. I've already had the fluid flushed and now have a BlackBear Performance tune on it. The truck drives a lot better since the tune but the shifting into reverse is annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? What's the fix?

it seems like that's all dealerships do, is tell people "it's normal"! such bs

I was told it was normal, also I had "modifications done" that make it worse and that GM wouldn't warranty any repairs because of the engine modifications.  Its a Airraid tube. Only engine thing i have done, except muffler and exhaust tip. So If I plan to go back, gonna swap the stock box back on. so stupid.

Yeah i don't buy that one bit, your intake has nothing to do with it jerking going into reverse. I have an intake and tune on mine, truck jerked before and after these modifications, i don' t have warranty on my truck and have no issue paying out of pocket for the fix if someone could locate the fix

exactly what I told them. I only put the intake on the day before the appointment, and was doing it since day one.

It sucks this is happening to us but makes me feel better that I am not the only one with this problem. I saw a video on YouTube of another truck doing exactly what mine is doing, he never posted if he found a fix for it or not.

this makes me want to remove my catch can before going to the dealer next week for a knocking noise during cold starts.  hopefully they dont document that stuff when ive had oil changes there lol.

That's funny! I love the 2014-2018 GMC Trucks but these issues make me want to get rid of it! There's no reason for a truck to be acting like this.

Very true! I love everything about my truck except the transmission. And it's a 6 speed so it's supposed to be a good one! haha

The torque converter is being replaced in the next couple of weeks, so I'll see if that fixes it..

Keep us posted please! I'm curious to see what a new Torque Converter does for your truck!
