PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEEEAAASSSSEEE HELP, Im begging you!! :jester: Ok, Im sure everybody is tired of the same old exhaust and intake questions.....so I'll ask some more. Seems to be a lot if info for everything other than the 6.0s so anybody that has a 6.0 what has worked well for you??

1. I have my choices narrowed down to either UPD (NSV) or AEM. I have read really good things about both. My only concern is reguarding open filter vs closed. I live in Arizona so it's hot and dusty. Will I be better off going with a closed intake system or does it really not matter? OR, I have seen some pretty nice air box mods on this site, should I just stick with those?

2. Ok, I am going with either the Flowmaster 50 SUV or the 70. I want a little bit of noise but I dont want shatter windows. Would also like to keep the noise in the cab down as well. My question is, can I keep my stock tail pipe (cut thy "Y" off) or do I need to go with a larger aftermarket one for best performance. I dont want to lose any low end since I do tow things. Will duals kill me?

3. I have a Hypetec programmer, it's ok but I want more. Just as I was about to by the Diablo Predator, somebody told me about Wester's. Now I am confused. I have heard good things around here for both, but mainly for everything other than the 6.0.

Is Wester's much better than the Diablo? Or am I ok either way? Should I drop to a 160 thermastat to cool that puppy down?

Ok, thats it.....im done. Sorry for the long drawn out questions but I have to spend this money before my wife changes her mind and spends it for me!!

I have tryed asking a few local shops, but they always point right to the most expensive stuff. I dont think more $$$ always means more performance!!

Thanks for help, again....

OK. On the intake I had a K&N up till last night. I installed a UPD (NSV). I did notice a little bit of difference in throttle response and it seemed like better overall power. So I suggest the UPD (NSV).

Next, the exhaust. I have the Flowmaster with dual inlets and dual outlets. It sounds great. I hightly suggest it. I think its a 50 series.

And last but not least. I have the Predator and it rocks. I had the Hypertech before this. I am scratching seconds with my 35's when I wind it out. Now, I have heard nothing but good stuff about Westers. But...you cant change anythign on it. You get what you order. I like the Predator for versatility and diagnostics reasons.

Any other questons let me know.

1. The UPD (NSV) is a very nice unit (I have one myself). I am also a very big fan of AEM. Either one is a great choice.

2. Flowmaster is the way to go if you want to have some sound. Go with Magnaflow if you want it real quiet. Both will give the same performance IMO, just different tone.

3. Again, both units are great. If you have access to a dyno, I would go with the predator. It allows you to tweak the fuel and timing. You can tune for maximum power on the dyno.

How is the quality of the UPD (NSV)? I have heard that they are very cheap. Im kind of having a hard time paying $250 for just a plastic tube! But if it works well then I guess it's worth it!

Thanks for the info!

thanks for the link...I do have a question though, what makes it so different from the FIPKII. I mean from the look of the website, their running with a K&N filter anyway, what is the difference, to make it better????

It uses the stock air box. Which does pull the air from oursite not under the hood. So it should give you cooler intake air temps. Cooler, denser air means more horsepower. :P

I'm going get flamed for this, but what the heck... never use an open design. You get far too much engine heat mixed in with the air, and the warmer the intake air is the less HP you get from it. And an open element makes a lot more noise then a closed system.

Make sure you check out Volant too -- they make an excellent cold-air (closed) system.

I'm going with the MagnaFlow myself. Personally, I think they have a better sound then a Flowmaster does.

As far as pipes go... 2.5" in and 3" out seems to be what a lot of people have had good luck with. That's what I'm going to run when I do my exhaust.

True duals will need to be engineered by someone who knows what they're doing, otherwise you will lose torque.

My only experience is with HPIII and Jet -- not Diablo or Superchips -- but I can say that the Westers on 89 octane is better then the others on 92. And with the price of gas today do you really want to run premium?

Should I drop to a 160 thermastat to cool that puppy down?

NO. That's too low for the LS1 motors, especially if you live in an area that you actually need to run your heater in the winter. A 180 should be okay, but I definitely wouldn't go any lower then that.
