accelerator "sticking"??

Yesterday when depressing the accelerator to full throttle to pass, the pedal seemed to "stick" before the last 1/2" of travel. I pushed it several times, and each time there is this noticeable spot where it "sticks." it is almost like there is a "detent" in the range, designed to be there and keep the accelerator from going to full throttle unless really intended to.

When I got home, I checked it out with the truck off, and it is there pushing it by hand.

 

Does any body else's truck do this? Is this an intentional design in the accelerator?

(yes, I have done the shim mod)

I've never noticed this and I do a considerable amount of highway driving. Maybe it is something like the DIC warning you when you're running low on fuel.  Perhaps it is a difference in our driving styles but, just in case, I'd ask at my local service department.  I would not be messing with a potentially sticking gas pedal or would I use a wedge to "improve" response.  You may believe you know what to do when a throttle sticks at a high rate of speed or in a panic situation but not everyone driving your truck may be as prepared.

What year is your truck? Model? Package? Do you have adjustable pedals?

I think what he is talking about?.. is more of the detent" feeling of when you go to pass someone, and you have to push it past this "detent" feeling to get it to really kick down several gears.... Basically to get to w.o.t. ( wide open throttle)
I DON'T believe it's actually sticking in the fact of it not returning......

^^ this. it is a detent that has to be pushed by. it seems like it is a significant sticking point. the accelerator returns normally

I have the 6.2, 8 speed. 

Sounds like my pedal is perfectly normal.

I have two 2018 crew cab trucks. One has the 5.3 6 speed the other has the 6.2 8 speed. Throttle pedals are total different when you hit the detent. The 5.3 is a lot smoother and it feels like the 6.2 throttle is going to stick. It never has but I'm concerned enough about it that I'll have the dealer look at it next time I'm in for service.

This is some good information.  My 2016 Yukon with the 6.2+8 speed has this exact problem.  I sent it in to the dealer and they said they couldn't find a problem with the original pedal but they went ahead and installed a brand new pedal but it yielded the same result. Finding this post confirms the detent is intentional.  For me it's not an issue for daily driving but when I tow, it's a total pain.  If I'm going up a grade and want just a little more throttle, I'll hit this spot and when it "pops" past this point I'll downshift two gears and race the engine, when I'm only looking for a single downshift.  It's so frustrating when manufacturers overthink things and think they're helping, only to frustrate us consumers.  It definitely isn't conserving fuel because I just keep my foot there until the motor decides to shift up to the gear I originally wanted.  If anyone knows a mod to fix this, I'm all ears!

does your yukon have a tow haul function?
