The bison is a very different truck then the 1500/2500/3500 series trucks, and targets a different group of people.  Sure the big diesel trucks can tow more than the bison, but they cannot do what the bison can when it comes to trails and off road.  We truck guys tend to value a truck solely based upon its ability to tow and carry things in its bed.  When looking at the bison, Tacoma, ranger we need to take a step back and judge the truck based upon its intended purpose.  If your “purpose” is towing 7k+ then sure you would not want one of these trucks. But if you are looking for an off road vehicle that you can do dump runs, transport dirt bikes, carry dirty stuff in the bed, etc. then the Bison is probably your ticket as it is really only surpassed by the Rubicon Wrangler for off roading. 2500/3500, shoot 1500 trucks are too big and HEAVY for a good off roading experience. Most trails are too narrow to take your $50k+ truck through.

My point, exactly
