Rear window leak

I picked up the truck this evening. So far everything looks good. They knew I was going to be anal about the appearance and fit and function of this from the beginning and they did a real good job of preventing interior scratches and damage. They removed the rear seats and side pillars completely to do the work. Everything was put back well. I did see a slight bit of damage to the extreme rear edge of the headliner on the drivers side corner that looks like it was touching the cardboard and got a slight abrasion during transport in the cardboard box. That’s not worth complaining about. I will be bringing the rust I found up with GM and I’ll find out what if any compensation they offer if any  and counter with real world actual cost I’ve incurred.  After all of this it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they have sudden amnesia about all of this compensation they’ve been blowing up my tail for the last two months.

If you clearly qualify for lemon law, why not just ask for a repurchase with a replacement vehicle? The rust on the seats was what put mine over the edge as soon as I told them I wanted the rear seats replaced too or I was going to lemon law it. Repurchase followed shortly after that.

I might try that. I took lots of pictures. I’ve already sent in the lemon Law notice.  What bothers me more it the rust on the air bag actuators over the doors.  My dealership is telling me GM id going to have to replace the truck if it leaks again and that 79 days is way too long and should have had the parts within a week or two.

Ok fellows. Just received a call from my Executive Customer Service Advisor.  She wanted to make sure the truck was repaired and I was satisfied.  I told her about the rust and she is trying to tell me that temperature changes cause the metal to rust.  She wants me to go back to the dealership and let them talk with GM Engineering about the rust.  I asked her about the compensation she touted throughout the entire process and she insulted me with a $100 GM Service Voucher offer.  I let her know that I'm used to being fed and having a few drinks before getting screwed.  She is now saying she never offered compensation and was only offering the service voucher as a gift.  I asked her about the two months of onstar and data and XM I've paid for but not received due to being in a loaner that didn't have said packages and she is saying she can offer 12 months of onstar but not data or XM and that's the best she can do.  I'm not at all satisfied with this and I'm now supposed to get a call from her manager within 48 hrs.  Who wants to take bets that said manager will never call me?

Quick update on my situation.  Took it to a new dealership after the previous dealership attempted to "seal" it with no success.  I was told if I took it to a new dealership they'd have to do a new diagnostic on it.  New dealership referenced a service bulletin that was out in January that said to apply sealant all the way across.  They said that the previous dealership only applied sealant in a three-inch section.  Picked it up last night, we'll see what happens when it rains.  I asked what the next step would be when it leaks again and they said they'd have to contact GM.  The saga continues...

i'm very curious what they offer.  I just want an extended warranty so I don't have to worry about other garbage from all of this.

I agree...I'm concerned just how long this "sealant job" is going to last. I don't want to be on the hook for all this myself in a few years...

Just a little update on my situation. Truck been in the shop for the past five days trying to determine where the leak is coming from after my new window installation. No loaner car, what a pain. I got a call from GM today and I am quickly losing faith with them. My advisor seems to have his notes mixed up, does not listen to details. From my first call with him I told him I would like an extended warranty, he keeps saying I don't think we can do that. I told him, this cost GM $0.00 but gives the customer great piece of mind. Anyway, as i was talking with him today he out of the blue mentions he he going to send an email to one of his managers about a buyback. I'm certainly not holding my breath on that ever happening. So is this his thought process. No extended warranty but maybe a buyback? Funny!

My saga continues as well.  Over a week in the shop.  They did the initial "seal" per bulletin and that failed in less than 24 hours.  They removed the window and resealed it again let "cure" for 3 days, still leaks.  They wont give my truck back because it still leaks and  they have ordered a new window which is on back order for two weeks.  I have no faith in the replacement windows.  Ive opened a case with GM over a week ago but they have yet to call me back.  I feel like i have no options at this point.

I just got mine back yesterday too, it's raining today so haven't seen if it leaks yet. If it does, I am trading it in on something else this weekend. Definitely not going to go through the BS GM and dealers are putting us through. I realize the grass isn't always greener but my truck has other issues on top of the window leak so I think it might be time to cut my losses.

My leak was "repaired" about 4 weeks ago on my 2019 Silverado 1500 at 5k miles.  It's been raining a lot here in Memphis recently and so far no more leaks, but it sucks that I have to check my back seat every time it rains just to be sure.  The sealant looks pretty good along the seam, but they put some scratches in the plastic panels beside the rear seat.  The dealership also completed the 4 recalls at the same time as the leak, and now my seat belt holders in the pillars rattle.  Highest in initial quality awards...give me a break!!
