I happy for GM that they made 30K off you. It’s the American way, rock on.

I love it when someone tells me my spending habits are wrong. As I sit here in my home next to my fire wondering where we’re going to go next. Dave Ramsey, thank you. I started listening to him and others while I was clearing ROWs many years ago. If it wasn’t for being in a family business I would have retired at 48 instead of 58. Rock on

If I listened to the "spend 70K plus every three years" club  I'd be living under the "L" down town Chicago in a cardboard box.

Economic Bubble Burst: That's where the shear weigh of the crap being spouted out weighs the number if idiots believing it.

Like you, I don't listen to them

My parents came to America as immigrants, father fought in Korean War in order to become an American citizen. Worked his ass off, building businesses while taking care of a large family. I broke away from the large family business because I didn’t want to live in my fathers shadow, I am my own man. Opened my own businesses, bought and paid cash for my first house in an upscale Houston neighborhood and currently contracted with multiple AAA rated affiliates. I don’t care what anyone does with their money, it’s theirs to do with as they please. Buying a 70k or a $200k + vehicle doesn’t mean that’s what the DO price was but the point was to show everyone just how uncomfortable a few get when someone buys a pricey vehicle. Inferiority complex comes out immediately and is widely spread out in these forums and no one should have to defend their purchases as long as their Happy that’s all that matters.

  Not hardly.

Man has 40K and someone steals 30K he's livid. That's not an inferiority complex. That's common sense.

Man has millions and someone steals 30K. It I hardly matters as long as their happy. Isn't that a Superiority Complex?

I’ll say to each and everyone that focuses on what everyone purchases or owns, worry more about paying for your own debts rather than focusing on what others do with their money.

Added: Having 70k truck doesn’t mean that’s how much was paid. Thanks for worrying about me, lol

Off tract thread so I might as well add this.

My 2 cents.

Not siding with anyone.

Personal choice but the main factor is the size of the wallet.

Me,

I have always bought used because I won't take the depreciation hit for the first 3-4 years.

I do my own maintenance and repairs.

Won't pay for it and know it's done right.

Drive them for years.

Retired construction, wife was an office worker.

Modest wallet.

Brother in law has done well with some luck thrown in.

Buys a new Mercedes. Has opened the hood 3 times in 3 years.

Computer says change oil or what ever, off to dealer, pay the bill.

Other brother in law rolls the same as me.

Friend who has a fatter wallet orders a new GM truck every 3 years.

Wife drives BMW's. New every 4 years.

He and his wife moved into their new house on Dec. 20 2018. $1.3 mill. house.

Wife is Senior VP of something at JD Powers.

He was in IT.

My point is we all are limited by our wallets.

Priorities are related directly to the wallet.

But in the end as TXGREEK says, if you're happy that's all that matters.

I know someone else who lives on 20 K a year. Medically retired. 50 years old.

Has a small condo, 2 older vehicles. One given to him by his Dad.

One of the happiest go lucky guys there is.

:)

I’m just cheap in most respects. Can’t stand to pay 1$ for water in gas stop when I can get a case for 3$ at sams. But the 4 times a year when I go east I stop in Biloxi and play poker for 2 days each way. Every thing else I’m cheap. Pick your poison I guess.

Smiling, also.

You don’t NEED to change it when it gets darker ... because there is nothing wrong with it ... it is just darker.

Do you believe the oil filter is working?  If so, then the oil itself, per your feeling, is deteriorating or losing its ability to lubricate and suspend particles?

Nah ...here’s a very basic summary of why that isn’t true ...https://auto.howstuffworks.com/5-engine-oil-myths2.htm

When I see a change, I pay attention. My oil went from a nice honey color to a darker and darker color. I’m not going to just ignore that because someone on the forums is telling me it’s all okay. I agree changing it every 2000 miles is excessive but there is no way I could or would wait for the OLM to count down to 20% on a new engine...never ever! You do what you feel is good and I’ll do what I feel is good and we both win ? If my piss kept getting darker, I’d go see the doctor. I’m 58 years old and never had an engine fail on me due to oil neglect so I’m gonna keep doing what I’m doing until they make a car that runs off Dilithium Crystals and it takes me to where no man has gone before...0 to 60 times are gonna be amazing ?

3-4K for me and I’m looking at switching completely to Amsoil, change at every 4K. Apparently, Amsoil is 4 times better than Moble1 extended protection. Amsoil signature series is 100% synthetic and others are full synthetic, that’s interesting cause I always thought full synthetic is the same as 100% synthetic, not.

Yeppers...here is an article that explains the difference really well without the possibility of offending almost anyone here as they don’t mention brands that are commonly used here in North America...

SS - this isn’t your piss ... it’s a complex lubricant.

hoosierz - I suspect the factory oil in 2016 may have been synthetic - let us know?

And yet you had to continue your futile effort to change our minds...I don’t care if you change yours every 50K or never. I’ll change mine when I please if that’s okay with you? Until you analyze my piss you can’t back up your statement ?
