I looked up the locking gas cap at GMPartsgiant.com, found part number 20968135

$23.81 + shipping

I will stick with my PVC cap for now :D

I just tried the part number listed and got this...the dealer sellers them so the part number must have just changed but you think they’d have just linked the two...I’m sticking with my PVC as well ?

So got mine done. Apparently the 2017's are bigger. Took a 2 3/8ths cover. Not Crimson tint coat but its the color I had on hand. Drilled some small holes all around to vent.

Great idea drilling tiny vent holes.

Yeah, I may have to steal this idea...mine isn’t super tight so I’m sure it’s venting but I like this idea because if stuff does get in there and gunks up around the bottom it could stop any venting, the holes are a perfect solution.

After the Sierra sat outside in a snowstorm last night I stopped today to fill it up...removed the PVC cap to a clean, dry & snow free filler neck and the under-door area packed with windblown snow :D

Well I couldn’t find what you have but the 2 inch works perfectly! $1.98 at Lowe’s ?

After two fill-ups and no CEL, I am 100% happy with this solution. It fits snug, not tight at all but doesn't rattle around so I assume the venting process is working just fine. It's nice to pull it off and see a very, very clean filler/flapper valve! No dirt, no water...exactly what the intent was!

Looking sweet! I will have to work on my color matching.

Yours looks about as close as you can get without getting the exact paint coded stuff. I also like the holes you drilled, I was going to use that idea but mine just fits snug and allows venting so I will skip that but I have the 2018 and as you mentioned the 2017 has a slightly bigger cap ID. I just got lucky and have white

Mine fits just about right as well. Does not move around and the gas door does not mar the cap. I will probably get a anodized red paint and give it a go. Just scuff it with some 1000 grit and lay down a light coat. I like filling up and proudly displaying the cap for all to see on my bed cover. I get some looks..... :)
