So I’ve searched all over and can’t seem to get a straight answer to what I’m experiencing. So I have a Black Bear Tuned 03 GMC Sierra 1500HD with the 4L80E 4 Speed Automatic transmission with the ability to Manually shift 1-2-3.
My understanding is that when I Manually shift it down into 1st gear it’s suppose to lock it into 1st gear so it revs up way higher and engine brakes to slow down but does not shift until I manually shift up to 2 or 3 or put it back in Drive. Well when I lock it into 1st gear, the revs are much higher but it still automatically shifts to 2nd gear once I get close to 25-30mph even though I have 1st gear selected.
Is Manual shift lock not working for me?
Has anyone else experienced this?
I just don’t get the point of manual shifting if it’s still gonna shift up automatically anyway 🤷♂️

A new study conducted by the Insurance Institue For Highway Safety has proven that GM's automatic emergency braking (AEB) is working and that it can have a huge impact on the number of crashes it is designed to prevent. Study author Jessica Cicchino, IIHS vice president for research, looked at 2013-15 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC brand vehicles. GM provided VIN numbers and whether or not the vehicles were equipped with the optional AEB system. The analysis of real-world crash data revealed that the vehicles equipped with both warning and AEB reduced accidents by 43%. The crashes were the type the system is best at preventing, front to rear crashes from behind. What is most significant is that the accidents reported by police to involve injuries were reduced by 64%. Accidents were also reduced by the GM system that only offered a driver a warning, but by a much lower percentage.
"The evidence has been mounting that front crash prevention works, and it works even better when it doesn't solely rely on a response from the driver," says Jessica Cicchino, IIHS vice president for research and author of both studies.
GM is one of the last manufacturers who is launching new models without making the technology standard. The Silverado, for example, offers AEB, but only on some trims, and it is optional on others. Every manufacturer has pledged to make the technology standard on all mainstream models and all trims by 2022. This new study jives with a prior IIHS study that looked at Volvo vehicles.

Alex Bregman, the 2018 Ted Williams Most Valuable Player, chose the new Chevrolet Camaro SS Coupe during the All-Star Game MVP award ceremony presented by Chevrolet at Nationals Park in Washington on Tuesday night. He had the choice of the Camaro or a Colorado ZR2.
Bregman hit the game-winning home run in extra innings that led the American League to victory. It was his first All-Star Game. “Bregman set a great example for baseball fans and especially our kids by hustling hard for the entire game and demonstrating exceptional teamwork — essential qualities to win on the field, in the classroom, and in life — and that is why Chevrolet is proud to present the MVP award,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet.

Say hello to the refreshed 2019 Chevrolet Camaro. Sporting an all new front end and rear tail lights, the updated pony car just might be an acquired taste.
Whether or not the updated design is appealing to look at (we're divided here at the GM-Trucks.com office), the revised 6th gen is ready to roll with new features and a turbocharged 1LE track model.
Chevrolet has a decent update in their press release, so we've copied it here instead of just regurgitating it for you:

DETROIT — Chevrolet today introduced a reinvigorated 2019 Camaro lineup with distinctive designs, new available technologies and the first-ever Turbo 1LE.
“Lauded since its introduction for its balance of driving fun, refinement and value, the restyled 2019 Camaro reaches even higher with more of the design, technology and choices that customers want,” said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet marketing director for Cars and Crossovers. “It’s a performer with few competitors and a pillar of Chevrolet’s energized car lineup.”

The 2019 Camaro’s updated designs are not only striking but also help to improve performance. For instance, the grille details and hood and fascia vents were designed for optimized air flow, either to cool components or help minimize drag or lift. Camaro designers follow the mantra that all elements must not only be beautiful but also enhance performance.
Design highlights include:

The new Camaro Turbo 1LE joins the V6 1LE, SS 1LE and ZL1 1LE to round out Camaro’s lineup of 1LE track stars. Leveraging the impressive performance and ideal weight distribution enabled by Camaro’s 2.0L turbocharged engine, the Turbo 1LE comes exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission and a tailored chassis package derived from the V6 1LE to offer track-capable performance.

The 2019 Camaro offers Chevrolet’s next-generation Infotainment 3 with all-new systems that provide a more personalized experience and a more intuitive interface.
They’re the most advanced infotainment systems ever from Chevrolet, with functionality that mimics the latest smartphones and tablets, and cloud connection designed to enhance personalization, available navigation, voice recognition, apps and more. They even allow vehicle software updates to be automatically uploaded over the air.
The standard system features a 7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen. An 8-inch diagonal touchscreen running Infotainment 3 is available, including one with navigation.

Have you ever stepped back and wonder why GM and other automakers bother to make super-special sports car editions almost nobody really buys? The idea is called the halo effect and the cars or trucks the automakers create are called "halo cars." GM has a couple right now, the Corvette Z06 and the Camaro ZL1. Do they really work?
Why, yes, they do, and here is some proof. Before we get into that though, remember, all a halo car can really do is generate interest. That's its job. Not to sell itself. Heck, Camaro sales are down about 8% this year, GM had six months supply on hand going into 2017, and it shut down the factory that builds them. But that's not the fault of the ZL1. As a halo car, it is kicking ass.
People love to read about the 199 MPH Camaro. I love testing it, and I love writing about it. So too do most of the media with any soul. The car is amazing, and it is a love-fest. Behind the scenes though, there are people who do more than fire of flowery sentences about the Camaro's success. People who make a living based on how many readers go on-line to read car stories on shopping sites for example. People like Libby Murad-Patel. She's the Strategic Insights & Analytics VP at Jumpstart Automotive Media. The company reports periodically on which models light up the shopping sites.
According to Jumpstart's recent report, Chevrolet’s share of shopper interest increased to 8.9% in April, up from 8.7% the previous month. This surge put GM ahead of Ford as the top brand for "shopper interest" in the month in April. The reason, according to Jumpstart, is the Camaro ZL1. Even the launch of the Dodge Demon could not stop the Camaro's interest generation. The company reports that, "Camaro was the number-one shopped vehicle on Jumpstart’s portfolio of websites in April (up from sixth-most shopped in March). Interest can be attributed to organic research as well as editorial coverage from this year’s New York Auto Show (where both vehicles were revealed)."
We wanted a little more detail on how the Camaro ZL1 made an impact as a Halo car, so GM-trucks.com reached out to Ms. Murad-Patel. We asked if it was true that this kind of fan activity generates sales for a company, or if it is mostly brand and model loyalty that is the result. Ms. Murad-Patel replied, "Even when we see huge spikes in performance car shopper interest across our sites, we don’t expect that those consumers are going to run out and buy them at the same rate (even in a good month, the combined sales totals for these muscle cars usually amounts to less than 2% of the total sales volume). What this does tell us is that the romantic idea of cars is stronger than ever; the excitement that the Challenger Demon SRT and the 2018 Camaro ZL1 generated really drives this home. It’s kind of an interesting juxtaposition that in the midst of this age of great technological innovation—especially growth in autonomous tech and driving—that consumers are still nostalgic for American muscle and really crave legacy performance."
The Camaro is doing just fine in sales despite the slight slowdown in year-to-date sales. With over 8,000 sold in April, the Camaro remains one of the top-selling performance cars in America. Those sales, and perhaps more than a few other GM car sales, are due in some part to a unique low-volume car most of us will never see in person in any given year, the Camaro ZL1.
