96 chevy c2500 5.7l 350

Recommended Posts

Ok so I have a major problem hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. My 96 Chevy C2500 is having some weird electrical surges when I try to quickly accelerate. The lights blink on and off (including the dome light) as well as the radio and the truck jerks like its missing.

My first suspicion is a ground wire location is either rusted/corroded and not making good contact, or has come loose, and the increased electrical load due to acceleration can't be handled.  On second thought, maybe the first thing to do is have the alternator tested at a parts store.  If you know it's working right, then you know the stray/extra electricity making lights come on is likely due to the ground locations not being able to handle to current.  If it had a short, I don't see why that would only show up during acceleration
