Hello people and I am new to this forum. Please help. A few days ago I purchased a used 2017 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 Double Cab with a rear camera. The camera worked great the first day of my purchase but then the next day when I put it in reverse I got a blue screen with a message "Service Rear Camera System". I checked the harness connect under the tail gate and seemed good and clean. Tried it again and still get the message with no video. Anybody know what a fix is? I don't see a fuse for the camera. The bumper to bumper warranty has expired. Please help.

Mine does this intermittently but usually works after a few seconds or putting it in park then back in reverse. The dealer checked connections and still said nothing is wrong.

I have had it twice on my 14 and it fixed itself after I let the truck sit for an hour without anything on. I don't know which one it would be but if you can find a fuse that controls the HMI I would pull that and wait a few minutes and put it back in and see if it helps any. The first time this happened to me my HMI was showing the backup image and I changed gears from reverse to drive 3 times in a few seconds and it stopped showing the image. I let it sit for a half hour and came back and it worked fine again. The second time it happened the error came up while I was backing up and had the image showing for a few seconds and then the radio stopped playing my music and restarted itself. It fixed itself after that reboot.

That's the big thing I despise in my truck is the radio for the random times it will reboot itself or if I stop quick and restart the truck it loves to stop playing all of my songs on my usb drive and I have to pull the drive out and reinsert it for it to stop being a pain in my ass.

Should be still under warranty unless you are over in mileage. Take it to dealer if it keeps acting up.

I'm not sure how different it is from a 2014,  but I used to get that on my 14' from time to time.   It was a loose wire on that big block of wires above the brake petal.

Put the truck in reverse w/ the parking brake on, push on all those tiny wires,  I'd bet it pops back on.

I will give that a try. Everything else that was suggested has not worked. Thank You!

The truck has nearly 46000 miles and the bumper to bumper has expired but I may have to bring it in if I cannot fix it myself. Thanks!

I checked the fuse box but could not find one that is listed as: HMI

Hello people! Today I found out what the problem was with my truck regarding the rear camera not working. I ended up bringing the truck to a Chevrolet dealer for the camera issue and also I went to trailer my boat and only got running lights with no brake or turn signals. I tested the trailer plug on the truck and only had power for running lights. The dealer found the problem was the fuse block under the hood near the motor had melted. For a truck that is only 19 months old and the fuse box is junk.  WOW. They wanted $651.00 to repair it and I am like wow this should be covered but no they would not cover it because the trucks bumper to bumper expired because the truck has 46K on it. Not a happy camper with Chevrolet. Hope this  fuse block does not melt or this is going to be a costly vehicle.

Contact GM and complain. They might take care of some of your cost under a goodwill policy. That fuse box should last for many years past warranty.

How do you make it if it burns to the ground? Did you buy the truck from a dealer? If so there should be a 90 day warranty for used car. If you bought it from a private Party you are SOL.
