A few days after we got a look at the changes for the 2020 Sierra, Chevrolet is letting on to what's going to change for the 2020 Silverado. Surprise, it's actually some significant stuff. 


More 6.2L

First up, the 6.2L makes its long awaited move to trim levels below LTZ. Now Custom Trail Boss, RST, and LT Trail Boss trim levels can also order the 420 horsepower engine option. As owners of a 2019 LTZ with the 6.2L , we highly recommend it. 


More 10-speed

LT Trail Boss and High Country with the 5.3L engine will upgrade to the all new 10-speed transmission. This move was more expected as GM flushes out the 10-speed into more models and slowly phases out the 8-speed and 6-speed transmissions its sold for years. 


A New 3.0L Diesel

The new light duty Duramax makes it's debut in 2020. It will be available on LT, RST, and above trim levels.  This engine will also come with the new 10-speed transmission. 


Smaller changes

Other additions to the lineup for 2020 include adaptive cruise control and a new "transparent trailer" camera system that displays up to 15 different views.

     (V46) and (VJH) Chrome bumpers are now free flow on 1WT
     (Q5U) 17" Bight silver painted aluminum wheels are now free flow on 1WT

Thus, the only noticeable exterior difference (on this model, at least) is the addition of the chrome “6.2L” badges on the hood. 

Looks the same as it is now. You cannot currently tell which engine the TB has and there is no badging on this "2020" model from the photos.

What can I say? I have fine-tuned vision for chrome badging. Hence why I bought an RST!

Lol ultimate troll by Chevrolet. 85% of 2019 Trail Boss owners are flipping out right now. I bet you will see thousands of 2019 TB's on the used lots next year as they will re-order the truck they wanted in the first place. Smart move by GM, cash in on the Techy's that have to be the first in line to get that new iPhone...

Chrome has been out for over 10 years now. Body color match or black special ordering chrome should be the new way? The 5.3 fits most needs so they pumped those trucks out 1st no surprise. This truck is gonna be around for awhile they can’t just pump out special orders all the time.  With any new vehicle so much money and time is invested they have to get a certain production number of the trucks . Now they got a million ready they can start putting out want people want instead of what the company needs to do 1st. 

It’s gonna help a lot of people get into these trucks with super low miles. 2021 models you can bet are gonna have a interior upgrade only thing left to do?
