Michelin North America, producer of the BFGoodrich brand has announced a recall of approximately 104,000 light duty pickup tires. These non-original replacement tires (aka the vehicle did not come from the factory with them) are used on commercial light trucks, small RVs, heavy-duty vans, and some 3/4 & 1-ton trucks.
The affected models include BFGoodrich's line of Commercial T/A All-Season, Commercial T/A All-Season 2, and Rugged Terrain T/A tires. The company is letting consumers know that the bead area of the tire may experience a rapid failure, resulting in complete loss of tire pressure.
As you could imagine, losing all of your tire's air-pressure without warning usually results in a crash. Consumers who are using these recalled tires are asked to return to the shop where they were installed to receive absolutely free replacements.
