I have a 2014 6.2L 6L80 transmission  Sierra Denali that has stock 3.42 gearing now.  I plan on a power adder very soon either turbo or supercharger and was debating which gear ratio to go with.  I am running 35's now on a 6.5" lift but adding another 1.5" lift very soon.  I do tow with the truck and don't care about fuel mileage just don't want to over gear the truck.  Just wondering who has a similar setup and how they like it.

So, since you are sitting 6.5" higher, I assume you a running the Zone lift?  What are you adding to gain another 1.5"?

4.56 without forced induction.  I will have a Whipple bolted on soon and I'm sticking with the stock 3.42 gears.  I don't see the need for FI AND regearing.

No FI here but love my 4.56 gears. My 5.3 feels much much better.

Took me a bit to get use to shift points .

Truck moves with very little throttle .

Was ideal for me , my commutes are stop n go , stop n go.

If I had alot of hwy in my commute I think 4.10 would be best.

Cam will be next for me .

Maybe

Doing BDS/FOX 8" lift coilovers up front with 6" block in back with add-a-leaf.

Maybe just go 3.73 and call it a day with forced induction.

Gearing is expensive, I’d never go from 3.42 to 3.73

I’d keep it stock and see how it goes.

You’d be better off just giving me the money you’d waste going from 3.42 to 3.73.

Actually, I forgot 3.73 is oem max tow for 2014. So might not be that expensive

As far as there being no need for gearing because you’re now adding a blower, I completely disagree.

A stock 6.2 with 4.56 gears is gonna run way better than a blown 6.2 with stock gearing. Even though you’re adding 100 hp to the wheels, you’ll still be fighting low rpm shift points, you still won’t be in the powerband and because of this you’ll be into boost more while cruising which is going to make your gas mileage go to absolute shit. I know you don’t care about mpg’s but you will when you start averaging below 10mpg going down the hwy and way worse if you tow something heavy. If you got the money and the means absolutely I’d do gearing also. I agree with FI you probably don’t need as much gearing if you were NA but you’re talking about possibly running 37’s. I’d stick with my assessment of 4.56 but sure as hell wouldn’t go lower than a 4.10

dang, this sounds like me and what I am wanting to do. I bet 4.56s would wake my truck up nasty. The driveability with my tune really made me love the truck even in being my stop and go traffic, i couldn't imagine have better gears. Im on the 3.42 right now.
