Is the E-assist really jerky?

Hi, I'm looking for some reviews of the e-assist models but I can't find anything anywhere. 

 

I test drove one e-assist model and it was kind of jerky. It was used, who knows what was done to it, but it jerked coming to a stop and getting going.

 

I test drove another standard Sierra (AT) with the 8-speed and it shifted a little clunky, but I hear they kind of do that.

 

I guess I'm just not sure how much clunky / jerkiness is normal, how much is related to the e-assist and how much is "this is just how they all are"

 

I do 90% of my regular driving in traffic so the hybrid is useful for me, and some long distance towing where it probably won't make a difference.
