Can GM diagnostics read that I tried a burnout with my truck?

Recommended Posts

I have heard that GM can tell of I have been speeding with my truck when they hook up their computer to it. Is that true? That's not really my issue, but somewhat related topic is can they tell i tried a burnout with my new truck? I did one for 5-10 seconds and am just wondering if that information can be read with their diagnostics system?

Thanks!

Probably. Traction Control/Stabyltrak will detect tire spin and begin to slip the transmission clutches as well as sensors would read the tranny fluid temperature getting hot. The truck knows it is not moving.

Read about “GM Telematics”.

if you were stuck in mud and spun the rear wheels it would be the same thing , they would not know

Except they can also see you location time and and hundreds of other variables. Including tire pressure. Us drag racers see that.

So you did a burn out and damaged your truck ?

Disabled traction control before burnout ?

I awoke this morning and found my truck peeking in my bedroom window. The phone rang. It was an OnStar operator. She said “You like that, don’t you?”, and hung up. Now it’s WiFi keeps pulling up pictures of convertibles. Will this affect my warranty?

I ripped a good 20-30 long ass burnouts, took my truck on 3 trips to the sand dunes. Tried another burnout a few weeks later. Only one tire lit. Took the truck to the dealer with rubber still stuck in the wheels wells and had the rear end rebuilt free of charge under warranty. I don't think they really care.

Seeing as go OnStar can monitor when and where you brake, and the effort applied to the brakes, I’m sure then can tell that you applied full brakes while goosing the throttle, or broke the tires free. Whether it means anything is a different tangent
