Hi all, new here, need some input.

I have a '12 Silverado 2WD 5.3L.

Installed a performance program a while back, almost immediately broke a motor mount. Was still under warranty, so sent it in. In trying to track a drive line noise yesterday, found that now both are broke. Obviously the engine is producing more torque than stock mounts can tolerate. Have not found any performance mounts at the usual places, Jegs, Summit, etc. The ones I have managed to find online are RIDICULOUSLY expensive, and really don't want to go solid mounts for the obvious reasons... Thinking that chaining/cabling/strapping the engine will cure the problem.

Question is, where to attach, and how heavy chain or strap to go with...

Should also note that I drive like a lunatic. My throttle has two positions; idle and WTFO!!!

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's not the power that is breaking the mounts, a plug in programmer is doing less than what you think. There are guys that install ready to go whipple or Magnuson supercharger kits making 120-140hp/tq over stock and aren't breaking motor mounts. The programmer is adding maybe 1/6th that type of power on a good day.

Perhaps it's the abuse you are putting through the truck or just an unlucky part failure on the new mount. If the new mount was installed but the other was nearly gone, it could have taken out the new mount with the extra movement it was trying to soak up.

Going solid mounts is really the best option. Or replace them with new ones and find a way to strap the engine down so it can't torque over as much.

Which brings us back to the original question.

Where is best to attach? Chain or cable? Wasn't really looking for opinions about the tune. Looking for help on limiting the torque in the engine bay.
