OP: "With a 3/4 ton should I sit around 60? (I want good mpg as well as a softer ride)?

Sorry - this was amusing. I keep mine around 70 PSI or so. Sidewall is 80, and I follow tire, not truck.

Mileage and ride quality comments are interesting. I went to a 2500 gasser from a 1500 Sierra. I am very impressed with the ride quality for a 2500. Doesn't seem much different than my 1500, and I like that it rides like a truck.

Mileage - well...I knew it would suck getting into it. :)

Coming from a 1/2 ton F150 V8 that had a level kit and 33x12.5 20 mud tires I was rocking a whopping 13 MPG.

With my current setup driving to work and back I am getting around 20 mpg.

Considering this truck weighs about 1,600 more lbs than my F150, I find my gas mileage amazing.

Hell, we have a small Nissan Murano that gets just 24 mpg LOL

Basically I don't want to drop them to 50 and go from 20 to 16....that's why i asked.

FYI, I dropped them to 60 all around and my MPG didn't change, but rides a lot better than what the dealer had them at.

Coughchough, Ford Explorers and Firestone. cough.

Yeah, Ford set the tire pressures too low on that deal.  Firestone warned them.  When I got my '95 Exploder, I looked at Ford's tire placard decal and said "Oh no, that's too low" and went at least 25% higher on my psi and never had any trouble, even with the "bad" Firestone tires.

Mine is at 55 to 57 (cold) on all four.

Last 5000 miles included 4000 mile roundtrip on interstate.  Handcalc fuel mileage close to 21.

If you getting 20 the way you're using it -- imho it's not dropping to 16 by lowering pressures to 50-55.

Doesn't cost much to try and is easily reversible.

What did you find on the doorpost sticker as recommended pressures for tires installed by the factory?

I know that is what I am saying.

I dropped it and I didn't lose any mpg's.

All is well.

I never checked the door yet.

I was able to lower my TPMS threshold by using a hand held tuner, wouldn’t work on the rest of the truck, so I returned it, but the tire pressure setting stayed in. I’m running 49 psi all around, still rides like a 3/4 ton pickup, with lower tire pressure.

Do you remember what tuner? Where did you buy it from?

Dealer set mine for me using the laptop -- wireless connection...

I don't run them as low as I had them set.

Side note - After the settings were changed, the onstar/gmc/chev apps show the pressures we set as the 'recommended tire pressures'.

It took a combination of things for my 2015 2500 to ride much better.  The lower pressures being one.  Then also replacing the stock Rancho shocks with a set of Bilstein 4600's and I also dropped the back a little with a set of McGaughy's 2" drop shackles and put on a set of SumoSprings 1500 lb urethane foam supports in place of the stock bump stops.  Those Sumo's ride directly on the axle and give almost air bag quality ride.  I am not giving up my 2500 for a long, long time.
