Harmonic balencer

So I replaced my timing chain and once I put on my harmonic balancer and it is not aligned with the water pump pulley...when putting the harmonic balancer how do i know when its all the way on

You did gears with chain?was crank gear the same as what was taken out?

Yes...i just don't know what will happen if i keep pressing the balancer in. It can go in more but how do i know when to stop pressing it in

Keep tightening with the bolt,it will bottom out,you will feel it,in hindsight,a dab of oil on snout would have aided in install

So once it bottoms out it won't go anymore?

I'd it lined up before it should again. If using propped balancer installer it may take more turning.

 

Could also be an issue with the alignment key. I would pull it off and check everything. Than reinstall it.
