New exhaust very LOUD

Recommended Posts

Well I got my new exhaust yesterday! :fume: It is way too loud!! :chevy: Louder than any flowmaster 40 series muffler I’ve ever heard. I went with true duals front to back. I already had dual to the muffler stock. Then two Ravin 33series mufflers (was supposed to be 55series the shop is going to fix it) with side exit at 45 degree angles and stainless steel tips. If loud is what you want that’s what I got now. Unfortunately that’s not what I wanted. The guy at the shop asked me to try it for a week then he would fix it if I still didn’t like it. Cool!!! When I got home I revved it up a couple of times in the driveway the wife said it rattled all the windows in the house!!!!:wtf::P

Now for the bad, really bad, news some guy rear ended me on the way home from the muffler shop. :D Smashed my brand new 6 month old Sierra!!! :troll: The right rear bumper is now part of my rear quarter panel…. After checking on my 20 month old son and making sure every one was ok, which every one was, we (him and I) were very understanding no fights yelling or nothing like that. Just no need for any of that. :troll: Don’t take me wrong I was mad but truth be told s**t happens. No need make the salutation any worse. Now for the kicker want to know what was distracting him from noticing that the car in front of us had stopped???? He was checking out my new exhaust!!!

Today I removed the trim from the bumper and used a tree and a com-a-long. I pulled the bumper back and off the right rear quarter panel to discover it was just a small dent no paint chipping. I think that I can get Dent Wizard paintless dent removal to get it out. As for the bumper I need a new one now!!!!

Well I will get my new bumper tomorrow! And I think that I can get the dent removed by one of those paintless dent removal places.

update on my exhaust it appears to have calmed down a little. Can't explain it but it is a little quieter today.

Thanks to all

It's not quieter...you're just more deaf

You’re probably right! I've been a mechanic on jets for about 11 years and have had substantial hearing loose over the years!!!!!!!!

Updates:

I had the mufflers changed to a 77 series Ravin. The shop supervisor told me when I went back that he would not do the flowmaster 50 series for free but he would do any Ravin for free. At first I was mad but I got over it pretty quick when I weighed out my options! The new muffler sounds awesome. Much deeper than the duel 33's. Still louder than I would want but I am still very happy with it and would recommend Ravins over Flowmasters. I've heard both and the Ravin sounds much better on a 6.0 Liter. (As compared to an identical set up with flwomaster 40's)

The paintless dent removal didn't turn out well it had pits and cracked paint so I am getting the bed repainted. The guy that hit me appears to be a stand up guy so far he has been honest and paid for everything like he should.

The truck goes into the shop on Tuesday for two days. I'll miss her but it will be worth it!
